Top 5 Free Things to do in Austin

Talk Like a Pirate Day – Monday, September 19; all day. Any swashbuckling guest who talks like a pirate will receive one FREE Original Glazed doughnut, while fans who dress like a pirate will receive one dozen Original Glazed doughnuts. For the first time this year, guests can also use a custom Krispy Kreme Snapchat pirate filter to digitally ‘dress’ like a pirate. Any guest who shows their Snapchat image at a participating shop will qualify for a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts. Show your snap to a team member inside the shop and score ye bounty. Poetry on the Plaza: Homer’s Odyssey – Wednesday, September 21 at Noon. Join Paul O’Mahony, on tour with Actors From The London Stage, for a selection of readings from Homer’s Odyssey, along with modern poems about refugees, homecoming, and the sea. Pizza with a Cop – Thursday, September 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Join the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department, Austin Police Department, and Domino’s Pizza for a gathering of community members and law enforcement personnel in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Unplugged at the Grove: Shinyribs – Thursday, September 22 at 8:00 p.m. Join KGSR at the iconic Shady Grove for the final FREE show in the Unplugged at the Grove concert series. All ages welcome. Shady Grove, 1624 Barton Springs Rd, Austin.

East Side Friday Food Truck Fest – Friday, September 23 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Eat, drink, shop, and pet furry friends from Austin Animal Center and Austin Wildlife Rescue. There will be games and other party shenanigans for your enjoyment, plus The Photo Bus ATX will be on site offering FREE photos prints to all guests. Food and drinks available for purchase.
