Top 5 FREE Weekday Events AustinDriskill Tree Lighting – Tuesday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m. The holiday festivities begin with the annual lighting of The Driskill tree followed by a performance of holiday carols by a quartet of singers from Austin Opera. Austin’s Arundel Ensemble String Quartet will play holiday music throughout the evening, and festive holiday cocktails and treats will be available in The Driskill Bar and 1886 Café & Bakery. FREE! The Driskill, 604 Brazos St, Austin.
  2. Mueller Tower Lighting – Tuesday, December 1 from 6-8:00 p.m. This family-friendly event will feature live music from the Reagan High School Drumline and the Huston-Tillotson Jazz Band. The event will also include free coffee, hot chocolate, and holiday treats, as well as activities for children with 10 tons of real snow! Austin City Council Member, Ora Houston, will count down the moments until the Noel sign is lit across the Control Tower, honoring a tradition that dates back to the 1960s. FREE! Follow The Star (Cedar Park) – Thursday, December 3 and Friday, December 4 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Follow The Star is an outdoor drive-through and walk-through production featuring ten critical scenes of the life of Jesus Christ. Professional sound, lighting and nearly 250 cast and crew members make this a spectacular event. FREE! Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 700 W Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park.
  4. Candle Light Trail – Friday, December 4 from 6-9:00 p.m. Walk the trail, take pictures with Santa, and enjoy holiday refreshments and entertainment at this fun, FREE family event. Hancock Rec Center, 811 E 41st St, Austin.
  5. Christmas Family Night (Round Rock) – Friday, December 4 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. This FREE event includes activities for the entire family: live music, dancers, candle making, game booths, Frosty the Snowman, full-scale Carnival rides, light maze, pedal go kart rides, holiday food, photos with Santa Claus, and more. Children should bring their “wish lists” for Santa Claus and parents are encouraged to bring their own cameras for pictures with Santa. Plus, enjoy FREE hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, and other refreshments, activities and snacks. Old Settlers Association and Dell Diamond Parking Lot, 3300 Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock.
