Who says all of the fun that Austin has to offer has to be saved for the weekend? This list is so full of weekday fun, it’s spooky! Thanks to our partnership with KXAN, this week’s list includes a murder mystery dinner, some special storytimes, and DOUGHNUTS! Peanuts Halloween Event –  Monday, October 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. Get ready for some spooktacular fun! Bass Pro Shop is continuing its Halloween event (through Halloween night) with FREE crafts, photo booth, pumpkin toss, and trick or treating.

Halloween Trick or Treat for Books Storytime –  Tuesday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. Gather at BookPeople this Halloween for a storytime starring a favorite group of preposterous puppeteers! Storytime will feature stories full of monsters, ghosts, and witches (but none of them will be too scary). Then, after storytime, join the costume parade around the store, which will start on our second floor and end at the front of the store where you’ll get your treat – a free book to bring home! This Halloween Party is perfect for witches and wizards ages 7 and under. Come have a spooktacular Halloween at BookPeople! FREE!

Harry Potter and the Murder Mystery Dinner –  Tuesday, October 31 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Merlin’s beard! There’s been a murder at Hogwarts (and no, we’re not talking about Cedric Diggory). Can you solve the mystery before time runs out? Teens ages 12-18 can register at the library beginning October 10 to choose a role. Dinner will be provided for participants.

Krispy Kreme Family Night –  Wednesday, November 1 from 6-8 p.m. Krispy Kreme will be hosting Family Night at our Austin locations the first Wednesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be doughnut decorating, arts and crafts, and it is FREE! Starry Nights – Thursday, November 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! Starry Nights are held the first Thursday of every month (except January, June, July, and August), with each month featuring a new astronomy experience and related hands-on activities. November’s theme is Native American Mythology. All ages are welcome to stop by any time between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. RSVP is recommended, however not required, to attend. FREE!
