It’s been a wonderful month in Austin, jam-packed with free fall fun happening all over town. But we hope you’re not all fun-ed out, because this week is the busiest one yet!

Horrendously Happy Halloween Movie: The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, Monday, October 27, 6:30 p.m., APL – Carver Branch. A bad scientist and wife, a mad scientist and skeleton, two aliens and their escaped pet are all searching for the elusive element “atmospheric.” Rated PG. FREE. Dia De Los Muertos Mask Painting, Tuesday, October 28, 3-7 p.m., SFC Farmers’ Market East. Bring the kids out to the SFC Farmers’ Market East for Dia de los Muertos mask painting. They’ll have all kinds of paper masks, paints, feathers, and accessories for you to get creative with. All you have to bring is a little Halloween spirit. FREE. (MLK & Miriam Ave, near M Station)

Halloween Family Flicks, Tuesday, October 28, 4 p.m., Lake Travis Community Library. This month is a double feature with What’s New Scooby-Doo: Halloween Special and Toy Story of Terror. Refreshments will be served. FREE. (1938 Lohmans Crossing)

Discovery! Dia de los Muertos, Tuesday, October 28, 4:30 p.m., Laura’s Library. Why is Day of the Dead called a “Celebration of Life”? Come learn from Ann Benson of Somos Amigos. You will dance like a crazy skeleton; play rhythm sticks and maracas; experience the mystery of life through a video about a girl who finds herself in a strange but beautiful new world; decorate a cool wooden spoon skull Calavera to take home; and snack on some delicioso Day of the Dead sweet bread. Ghost Stories, Tuesday, October 28, 6-7:30 p.m., Pflugerville Public Library. Storyteller Gary Whitaker will share creepy tales sure to give you the heebie jeebies. Ages 8 and up are welcome. FREE. (1008 W Pflugerville St, Pflugerville)

Biscuit Brothers Halloween Party Open House, Wednesday, October 29, 10-11:30 a.m., Fine Arts Farm. The Biscuit Brothers Fine Arts Farm is now open, offering classes, camps and workshops for all ages. Check it out at the Halloween Party Open house with arts and crafts, a costume parade, and a movie-size projection of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! FREE. (6036 W. Hwy 290)

Family Fest, Wednesday, October 29, 5:30-7:30 p.m., 
Hyde Park Baptist Church. Activities will include a dunking booth, petting zoo, go karts, obstacle course, sports activities, all kinds of preschool booths, face painting, concessions, plus prizes and candy giveaways. Food will be available for minimal cost. FREE. (3901 Speedway)

Movies in the Park: Beetlejuice, Wednesday, October 29, 7 p.m., Wooldridge Square Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and even a picnic dinner for a fun and relaxing evening under the beautiful Austin night sky. FREE. (900 Guadalupe)

Creative Action’s Kids Ball, Thursday, October 30, 6-8 p.m., Central Market North. You are invited to Creative Action’s Kids Ball with treats, kid and family friendly activities, and dancing! Discover more about kindness, strengths, treasures, and creativity. Families are invited to build their own costumes through fun, interactive stations! Fall Fun Fest, Friday, October 31, 9-11:30 a.m., Old Settlers Park, Round Rock. Take a voyage to the park for a fun morning filled with pirate-worthy adventures and games. There will be carnival games for toddlers and preschoolers, hayrides, cookies and punch, and fun entertainment for all to enjoy. Be sure to wear your favorite costume. FREE but guests are encouraged to bring a canned item for the Round Rock Serving Center. Trick-Or-Treat at the Library, Friday, October 31 from 4-5:30 p.m.,

IKEA Spooky Scavenger Hunt, Friday, October 31, 4-6 p.m., 
IKEA. Bring the little ones for Halloween fun. Pick up a Halloween Scavenger Hunt sheet at the front entrance. The clues you need to solve the puzzle are located throughout the store. Prizes and surprises will be waiting for you as you go. Solve the puzzle, bring it back to the entrance and you’ll receive a coupon for a free frozen yogurt in the IKEA Bistro. Mall Wide Trick or Treating, Friday, October 31, 5-8 p.m., Lakeline Mall. Bring the family to Lakeline Mall for a night of safe trick-or-treating. While you’re dressed for the occasion, bring your little ghouls and goblins to get their Halloween photo taken from The Noerr Programs (fees apply). HalloweenFest, Friday, October 31, 5 p.m. – midnight, downtown Bastrop. This is a fun family event celebrating community! There will be haunted movie classics at the Opera House, games, trick-or-treating, a DJ at 921 Main so you can dance the night away, a costume contest for all ages and possibly a ‘Thriller’ dance event! FREE.

Treats on East StreetFriday, October 31, 5:30-8 p.m., Downtown Hutto. Enjoy a safe night of trick-or-treating on the downtown streets. Local businesses will have activity and candy booths on East Street while organizations and churches will set up Trunk or Treat on Farley Street. The entire family is encouraged to dress up and head downtown Halloween night. FREE. (Corner of East St and Farley St, Hutto)

Boo Bash, Friday, October 31, 5-8 p.m., Downtown Square, Georgetown. Main Street will be closed to traffic for costumed dancing in the streets to a live band. Plenty of food and shopping plus there will be trick-or-treating at participating stores. FREE. (103 W. 7th St, Georgetown)


Halloween HootenannyFriday, October 31, 6-8:30 p.m., Thinkery.  Join the Thinkery for Austin’s best family-friendly Halloween party. Celebrate from 6-8:30 pm with spooky science activities, not so scary Storytime and a pumpkin patch that the little ones will love. Come dressed in your Halloween best for a costume parade! While this is a candy-free event, refreshments, including food, beer, wine and kid-friendly drinks, will be available for purchase. This event is intended for children 6 months to 6 years old, but all ages are welcome. Trunk or Treat, Friday, October 31, 6-9 p.m., Wells Branch Community Center. Bring your trick-or-treat route by the Community Center parking lot off Klattenhoff Dr. for Trunk-or-Treat. Trunk-or-Treat is a great centralized and safe location for you and your kids to trick-or-treat on Halloween night. Trunk or Treat in Scofield Farms, Friday, October 31, 6-8 p.m., The Fellowship at Scofield Farms. Come over for a safe place for your kids to trick or treat and have lots of fun. Storytime will be in the 2nd floor amphitheater starting at 6 p.m., featuring stories full of monsters, ghosts, and witches (but none of them will be too scary).
