Here’s Why You Should Visit Bastrop Town Square

Listen to this post with Alexa!

As part of our Salvage Summer program we’re visiting some of our favorite Texas towns. This week we’re headed to Bastrop Town Square!

Bronze sculpture located in Downtown Bastrop.

The lovely Texas town of Bastrop retains its historic charm: charming brick storefronts line the streets, artisans and artists display their handcrafted wares, and local chefs crisp chicken-fried-steak and catfish to perfection. Perfectly positioned along the banks of the Colorado River, cozy downtown Bastrop offers something for everyone and it’s only a 40 minute drive from Austin. Visit their website for more. Be sure to click the “Film” tab at the top of their page for a little surprise!

Here’s five places we recommend located in the heart of downtown Bastrop!

Maxine’s Cafe & Bakery
906 Main Street
Stop anyone on the street in Bastrop County and ask where to get the best breakfast and they will send you to Maxine’s. Offering lunch and dinner too, their menu is chock full of Texas favorites, including pie!

Astro Record Store
705 Pine Street
Astro Record Store specializes in rare and unusual LPs, CDs, collectibles, and music memorabilia. You’ll also find a great selection of vintage record players, speakers and amps, accessories, and they have a lovely shared courtyard out back.

Bastrop Art in Public Places

Bastrop Art in Public Places assists the Bastrop City Council in the selection, display, and maintenance of art in the city of Bastrop. They acquire Works of Art by purchase, loan, or donation for public enjoyment.

Lost Pines Art Bazaar
932 Main Street and 603 Chestnut Street
