Calling all teens!

The Contemporary Austin values the distinct teen voice and encourages teens to visit by offering free admission at both locations. Teens are welcome year-round to explore contemporary art and culture from many angles, with a wide array of offerings for teens by teens.

Applications are now open for two free opportunities at The Contemporary this fall. Apply by September 15, 2014!

Teen Council

Teen Council is a paid year-long creative teen advisory council to the museum. Members meet weekly during the school year to design, develop, and implement creative events and resources for fellow teens. Creative minds welcome; need not be a visual artist to apply.

Paid Position // Members earn an hourly wage
Ages: 15-18
When: Wednesdays 5:30-7:30P // September 24 – May 27, 2014
Location: Laguna Gloria and Jones Center

Young Artists

Young Artists explores creative careers, provides portfolio development, offers workshops with local artists, and investigates a range of artistic concepts, materials, and pre-professional offerings through contemporary art.*

Important note: All participants of Young Artists are eligible to apply for the 2015 Advanced Young Artists program (applications due Oct. 15, 2014). 

Advanced Young Artists work together with artist-mentors weekly over seven months in the studio, culminating in a Teen Artist + Mentor Exhibition.

Location: Jones Center

*Select spaces are reserved for students from underserved areas with limited access to arts opportunities.
