The Austin Humane Society (AHS) presents… Summer Kids Series 2017! This FREE and fun community program invites children and their families into the AHS animal shelter to learn what it means to be responsible pet owners and animal advocates through interactive play-based learning. Explore the Summer Kids Series calendar for a variety of story times, workshops, and Teddy Bear Surgery events. Be sure to register to guarantee a spot!

About Austin Wildlife Rescue
Central Texas is brimming with wildlife. Who better to help your kids explore than friends from the Austin Wildlife Rescue? AHS is teaming up with them to bring the wild to you! Young explorers will learn all about baby animals, what to do if you see them, and how they live in the wild. Plus, a special guest will be on hand…Tito the Tortoise! Please register to attend.

About Humane Hero Hour
Keeping our animals happy and healthy, has never been more fun. Kids will get crafty as they work on making toys that will actually be used by animals at the shelter. These toys help keep the dogs and cats active and engaged while they wait to find their forever homes. Once they make them, they’ll get to see the toys in action. You’ll meet some furry friends along the way. Please register to attend.

About Story Time
Each Story Time session focuses on either feline friends or canine companions. Children will learn about the animal through a silly and sweet storybook. Then, new this year, Rescue Readers will spread out through our shelter to give the animals some love, too! Please register to attend.

About Animal Art Workshop
When art and animals meet, who knows what will happen! Bring your budding artist and their creativity and AHS will supply the rest. Kids will have plenty of time to get artsy and create a fun animal-themed work of art all while learning about either cats or dogs. Please register to attend.

TeddyBearSurgeryAbout Teddy Bear Surgery
An all-time favorite event at AHS is Teddy Bear Surgery. This is a unique opportunity for  children to meet the Austin Humane Society veterinarians and step inside a real animal shelter clinic. Kids are invited to bring their own stuffed animal in need of a little love and care, and the shelter team will diagnose their buddy and patch them up. Everyone will be feeling better in no time. Please register to attend.
