Free SXSWedu Expo on Tuesday, March 8

SXSW EduCalling learners of all ages! The SXSWedu Expo is a FREE event (that’s right — no badge needed!) designed to inspire both children and adults to identify and reach their education and career goals.

Held Tuesday, March 8, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center (Exhibit Hall 4), this event will bring together thousands of students, parents and educators with its hands-on, interactive exhibits that are organized by theme.

Learning Pavilions

Expo1Expo visitors can explore a variety of booths, organized in themed learning pavilions, to learn about educational, volunteer and internship opportunities. This year’s learning pavilion themes will include College, Continuing and Informal Education, Health & Wellness, Music & Arts, Software & Resources, and more. The list of exhibitors is extensive and diverse, including nonprofit organizations like Girls Rock Austin and the Wounded Warrior Project; colleges and universities like St. Edward’s, Huston-TillotsonTexas A&M and Santa Fe University of Art and Design; and many more.

Mentors and Sessions

MentorVisitors to the Expo will be able to meet with mentors — college students and local industry professionals whose interests, education and career goals align with their own — as well as attend special sessions, many of which are ATPE-certified and eligible for continuing professional education (CPE) credits. There will also be four different panels taking place adjacent to this year’s Expo, offering a diverse range of voices and subjects. Like the rest of the Expo, these sessions will be free and open to the public.

NEXT Stage

NextThe Expo’s NEXT Stage is where SXSWedu showcases learners’ talents. Come see young musicians, writers and entrepreneurs who represent some of the best and brightest students in Texas’s thriving education community. The NEXT Stage is also home to the Student Startup Competition, where Central Texas high school students will have a chance to pitch their team’s latest business idea to a panel of judges. The winner of the Startup competition will take home a $1,000 cash prize to fuel their entrepreneurial endeavor!

Social Media Scavenger Hunt

One last fun thing to note that will be new at this year’s Expo: a Twitter scavenger hunt! You can start your hunt as soon as you arrive at the Expo — just follow a few simple steps and then enter to win your choice of a 2016 SXSW Music, Film or Interactive badge, plus a few other prizes along the way.
