The third annual Star Wars Reads Day, on Saturday, October 11, 2014, will once again celebrate literacy, Jedis, Wookies and all things Star Wars!  Don your best Star Wars costume and check out one of these fun local events!

Saturday, October 11, 2014, starting at 11 a.m.

Star Wars fans young and old are invited to dress as their favorite characters and join Barnes & Noble’s third-annual celebration of the popular intergalactic tales. Barnes & Noble at the Arboretum will kick the day off with a special Star Wars ‘I Want to be a Jedi’ Storytime. See if you can complete the tasks required to become a Jedi. The day will continue with three levels of Star Wars trivia, a costume contest/parade, crafts for all ages and maybe a Storm Trooper or two! Exclusive giveaways including Origami Yoda Swag Packs, posters, stickers, prints as well as activities provided by more than 10 publishers of Star Wars-related books and products will ensure Jedi and Padawans from every age group will be delighted and entertained. FREE!

Schedule for Barnes & Noble at the Arboretum:

  • 11 a.m. – Storytime; Train to be a Jedi
  • 12 p.m. -Star Wars Costume Contest
  • 12-2 p.m. – Star Wars Crafts
  • 2 p.m. – Star Wars Trivia (3 levels: kids, general and difficult)

Prizes will awarded for the costume contest and to trivia winners!

It’s the third annual Star Wars Reads Day! Come celebrate with the Round Rock Public Library on Saturday, October 11. 

Stars Wars fans are invited to enjoy Star Wars and Origami Yoda crafts, activities, and giveaways from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until supplies run out.

Families with childen of preschool and early elementary ages are also invited to a special Star Wars-themed storytime at 11 a.m. in Room A. FREE!

How strong is the Force in you, young Padawan? The Library’s Jedi Training Academy will challenge and test you with games of skill, activities, clever crafts, food flown in straight from the planet of Tatootine, and members of the Lone Star Light Saber Academy demonstrating the art of Jedi light saber combat.

You will attempt to conquer many trials in your quest to become a Jedi! Some of the challenges you will face at this event (which is for all ages, genders, and is absolutely FREE!):

  • Build your own (foam) lights saber
  • Make a Jedi tunic
  • Conquer Mustafar’s lava rivers and other obstacles in a course designed by Master Yoda
  • Create your own droid 
  • Train yourself to be strong in the force
  • Learn to defeat the Dark Side
  • And so much more!
