Screen Shot 2015-10-05 at 5.18.06 PMStar Wars Reads Day — a celebration of a galaxy far, far away and the joy of reading — is back. On Saturday, October 10, 2015, bookstores, libraries, and retailers will participate in the fourth annual installment of this global event.

Local Celebrations on October 10

Round Rock Public Library (Round Rock) – Saturday, October 10 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Celebrate the joy of reading at a very special Star Wars Storytime! Join the Library for activities, including:

  • 11 a.m. Star Wars Storytime in Room C featuring firefighters dressed as Yoda, Princess Leia, and other characters.
  • 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Come-and-go fun in the Library’s Gallery and throughout the children’s area. Activities include games, crafts, give-aways, quiz opportunities, and a photo booth.

Fans are encouraged to wear costumes or Star Wars clothing. Additional special guests in official Star Wars costumes have been invited–fingers are crossed! This is a food-free event for families living with food allergies. Please do not bring snacks to this storytime session. Round Rock Public Library, 216 E Main St, Round Rock.

Titan Moon Comics (Cedar Park) – Saturday, October 10 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Join the store for a coloring contest, fun activities, a costume contest, store-wide sales and giveaways! There will also be a guest artist in the store selling prints and doing free quick sketches for the kids! Titan Moon Comics, 1540 Cypress Creek Road, Suite 108, Cedar Park.

Barnes & Noble Arboretum – Saturday, October 10 at noon. Celebrate reading and Star Wars with Star Wars Reads Day!  10000 Research Blvd #158, Austin.

Barnes & Noble The Homestead – Saturday, October 10 at 2 p.m. Celebrate reading and Star Wars with Star Wars Reads Day! Lakeline Crossing, 14010 US Hwy. 183, Austin.

Barnes & Noble La Frontera (Round Rock) – Saturday, October 10 at 2 p.m. Join Barnes & Noble La Frontera for a Star Wars themed LEGO build event at 2 p.m., followed by a trivia contest. See how much you really know about what happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. La Frontera Village, 2701 Parker Road, Bldg A Suite 700, Round Rock.

Pflugerville Public Library (Pflugerville) – Saturday, October 10 from 2-4:30 p.m. Join Pflugerville Public Library for this annual celebration of Star Wars and reading! Enjoy games, crafts, a photo booth and more for Star Wars fans of all ages. Dressing in costume is highly encouraged. Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W Pfluger St, Pflugerville.

Liberty Hill Public Library (Liberty Hill) – Saturday, October 10 from 6-10 p.m. Join the Library for a Star Wars Reads celebration with crafts, games, Jedi from the Lone Star Saber Academy, treats, giveaways, and a screening of Star Wars IV (“A New Hope”) under the stars! 355 Loop 332, Liberty Hill.

Bonus Fun on October 17

star warsAustin Public Library Redux Party – Saturday, October 17 from 2-5 p.m. Star Wars Reads Day is October 10, but Austin Public Library is keeping the fun alive by celebrating October 17, one week after the rest of the world! Use the force in lightsaber and nerf ‘blaster’ games, make TIE fighter crafts and collectible buttons of your favorite character. Wear your best Jedi or Sith robes to Padawan storytime then stay for a costume contest and capture your moment at the Galaxy photo booth! Free and open to the public.
