Sneak Peek – Aquatica San Antonio

Aquatica, the newest addition to SeaWorld San Antonio, opens to the public on Saturday, May 19, 2012.  My 9-year-old and I were lucky enough to get a quick preview of the 20-acre park last night and we did our level best to test drive all of the colorful new rides during the three-hour event.  We managed to squeeze in five water slides, a family raft ride that travels under the stingray habitat, a lazy river, a water playscape, and a wave pool.  It was a whirlwind visit, but we had a great time.  I’ll be writing about Aquatica for the upcoming issue of Parent:Wise, if you want the full scoop, but I wanted to share a few photos of our adventure here, too, for those who may be interested.

To interact with the sting rays (as seen above) is $25.  You can also feed them fish from the sidelines for $5, or just pet them as they pass by for free.  Guess which option we picked? I did have to bribe my son with ice cream to save that $25….

Although Aquatica is located inside of SeaWorld San Antonio, you must pay separately for admission to the water park.  The best deal available right now seems to be the SeaWorld San Antonio/Aquatica 2012 Fun Card, which includes unlimited admission to both parks for the 2012 season.

If you plan to go soon, feel free to shoot me an email at [email protected] with any questions!  You can also follow Aquatica San Antonio on Facebook for updates.

Disclosure: I received two media wristbands to attend the preview night.  All opinions are my own. This post contains an affiliate link, which means I get a little something back for sharing the deal.
