With everything going on right now and all the stress everyone is under, there’s no better time to perform random acts of kindness for your friends and neighbors. Even though you may be spending most of your time in the house, there are still ways to make that happen.

If you’d like to brighten someone’s day (and in turn brighten your own), try something on this list!

.) Pay for the person behind you when grabbing food or drink at a drive-thru.

.) Give a bigger than normal tip when you pick up your curbside/ to go order.

.) Send a surprise like coffee, donuts, or even a gift card over to a friend or co-worker that you know if struggling at this time.

.) Reach out to someone on social media who you haven’t talked to in years and tell them how they’ve made a difference in your life.

.) Make your neighbors smile by making a drawing or writing an inspirational message in chalk on the sidewalk outside your home.

.) Drop a bottle of wine or can of beer at your neighbor’s doorstep just to give them a surprise and a smile.

.) Now that you have some extra time on your hands, take a minute to write a review for your favorite restaurant or shop.

.) Invite friends and/ or family for a Zoom happy hour or a game on the House Party app – maybe even reach out to someone you’ve lost touch with and include them as well!

.) Share a story on social media about someone you know who is out there making a difference, whether they are on the front lines or spreading joy while safe at home.

.) Share some love with the homeless community in your neighborhood by leaving a box of individually wrapped non-perishable treats in an area where you know they’ll be found.

.) Clean out your closet and prepare bags of quality clothing items to donate to local non-profits.

.) Pay your boss or co-worker an unexpected compliment. Everyone is under stress right now and a kind word can go a long way.

.) Drop off some books at one of the many Little Free Libraries across town (just be sure to clean and sanitize everything).

.) Support local music by watching a streaming event and sending over a tip to the artists via Venmo, Paypal, or whatever app they publicize.

.) Offer to read a book to a friend’s child via Zoom. Or, better yet, take on a home school lesson.
