“Shark Tank” Goes to the Dogs as Another Austin Business Receives Funding

It looks like ABC’s “Shark Tank” really loves Austin entrepreneurs-another Austin startup just scored some of those billionaire investor dollars on last Friday’s episode. The customizable pet product company received a $200,000 investment from two of the sharks for 20 percent equity in the company.

Pride Bites’ motto, “Your Pet, Your Choice,” is echoed in each of their products, as customers can choose to buy a pre-made product or design their own. Pet products include beds, blankets, collars, hoodies, and more. The punny names of some of their pre-made collections are so cute, there’s reason to shop the site right there. A few faves include Ruff Lauren, Kate Spayed, and Vera Wag. Their “Our Story” page on their site is pretty darn adorable, too, as they illustrate that “behind every great person, there is a greater dog” with photos of staff and their pooches.

“Shark Tank” was in town last month to recruit minority entrepreneurs to try to add more diversity to the show, so we can likely expect to continue seeing Austinites pitching on the show for a while.

Other local businesses that have received funding from their appearances on “Shark Tank” include Bee Sweet Lemonade, Wondercide, Beatbox Beverages, Beardbrand, Monkey Mats, and Grace and Lace.
