Round Rock’s Main Street Plaza Fountain

We can’t visit Round Rock without getting wet, it seems.  Whether stopping by the library or shopping at Round Rock Market Days, we always end up at the Prete Main Street Plaza interactive fountain… often without bathing suits. But hey, boy shorts work just as well as the real deal.

The great thing about the plaza fountain is that it is covered, to keep the Texas sun at bay.  The shade does not extend to the nearby seating area, however, so on a summer day you may need to get in on the splash action. It’s the only way to stay cool.

The Main Street Plaza Water Fountain is generally operational from 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 7:30-11:00 p.m. Friday – Saturday. Fountain may be closed during some holidays and special events that take place in Prete Plaza. The water is also turned off on occasion for maintenance or in the event of poor weather.

There is a public restroom in City Hall, next to the fountain, in the nearby Star Coffee building, and across the street in the library.

The fountain at dusk.

If your kids stay up late, take them to play in the fountain after dark. The water jets light up and music plays from loudspeakers in the plaza. It’s a nice spot to frolic after the sun goes down.

For more information on the interactive fountain, visit the City of Round Rock website or call the Parks and Recreation Department at (512) 218-5540.
