There’s a new service in town that’s inspiring people to create a future without waste! The company Ridwell makes it easy to reuse and recycle more by identifying recyclable and reusable items that the city doesn’t collect, picking them up from your doorstep, and matching them with partners that can use them sustainably.
Ridwell focuses on hard-to-recycle items like batteries, lightbulbs, plastic film, and clothes. They then give the items to local nonprofits in need. From March 21 through April 3, they collected kids books which were donated to Bookspring. From April 4 through 17 hey will be collecting and donating foods for Hope Food Pantry. Then, from April 18 through May 1, they will collect and donate blankets, towels, and sheets for Austin Humane Society.
With spring cleaning season in effect, it’s a great way to de-clutter conveniently. And here’s a fun fact: the company was started by a 6-year-old!

On Saturday, April 9 they will take part in a creek cleanup , also hosted by Windsor Park Neighborhood Association Parks & Schools Committee and Keep Austin Beautiful.
Come together for a spring clean-up of Tannehill Branch Creek in Windsor Park. $10 for each bag collected will be donated in your name to the Windsor Park High School Senior Scholarship Fund and all participants will receive a free month of service from Ridwell!
