Top Free Austin Events Happening This Week: July 18 through July 22, 2022

We can’t believe we are already halfway through July! If you haven’t had a chance to experience everything FREE around Austin yet, now is your chance. With FREE indoor and outdoor events for kids and adults all over Austin, here are this week’s “can’t miss” events.

This list contains a mix of family-friendly and adult focused Austin events.

Terrence Taps – Tap Dancing Show
Monday, July 18th | From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Round Rock Public Library, 216 East Main Street, Round Rock

Prepare to be amazed–and to spend the rest of the day dancing–as Round Rock Public Library welcomes Terrence Taps – The Tap Dance Man for two special performances. All ages are welcome, although the show will be best enjoyed by kids old enough to want to try a few moves of their own.

Summer Family Craft Time: Plastic Canvas Bookmarks

Learn how to create a plastic canvas bookmark for all your summer reading for FREE!

Tuesday Tree Watering
Tuesday, July 19th | From 9 to 10 a.m. | Pease Park, 1100 Kingsbury Street

A volunteer opportunity at Pease Park! This shift will be dedicated to watering some of the vulnerable trees throughout the park.

Movie Night: In Cold Blood
Tuesday, July 19th | From 6:30 to 9 p.m. | Round Rock Public Library, 216 East Main Street, Round Rock

Based on Truman Capote’s revolutionary true crime “novel” of the same name, IN COLD BLOOD follows two ex-cons who murder a family in a robbery attempt, before going on the run from the authorities. The police try to piece together the details of the murder in an attempt to track down the killers. Directed by Richard Brooks, starring Robert Blake, Scott Wilson, and John Forsythe. Not recommended for young viewers.

Movie Night: Point Break
Wednesday, July 20th | From 9 to 11 p.m. | Central Machine Works, 4824 East Cesar Chavez

After a string of bizarre bank robberies in Southern California, with the crooks donning masks of various former presidents, a federal agent, Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves), infiltrates the suspected gang. But this is no ordinary group of robbers. They’re surfers — led by the charismatic Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) — who are addicted to the rush of thievery. But when Utah falls in love with a female surfer, Tyler (Lori Petty), who is close to the gang, it complicates his sense of duty.
