Stephanie MartensI'm so sorry Christmas is missing. Please read this link and edit this post with the information we need even if it's on this flyer. We need the text so that it's searchable in our database. Make sure to post in the other places that we list, as well. If you read it till the end, you will find that we have some great tips to help you and your search. For starters, put some of your dirty laundry outside of your home or apartment right now - the dirtier, the better. Socks, shirts, pants, blankets, etc. The smell may help Christmas find her way home. austin.com/lost-found-pet-austin-heres-need-first/

Lost dog sighting: small white chi-mix (maybe corgi or terrier) with brown ears seen on the 2000 block of 6th st. Dog had collar, was dirty but would not let me get close enough to catch. Last seen running under a gated parking lot fence at 2008 6th st last night around 6pm. ... See MoreSee Less

Help: admin plz delete if not allowed.
My female 3yr old chihuahua mix was walking odd last night with kind of an arched back. I rubbed her back and laid her in her bed and this morning I woke to take her out and her back legs are dragging. I'm very worried, I know she needs to see a vet and I cannot afford a full vet bill right now. Does anyone know a vet that will do payments? She's still eating and drinking. Thanks in advance
... See MoreSee Less

Katie KretsingerI unfortunately am not aware of vets who work with payment plans but I would strongly suggest trying and applying for care credit its a medical credit card that helps with expenses even with pets. You are right your pet needs to be seen very soon. I would even recommend taking her to an emergency hospital to be sure she has round the clock care. The sooner she is seen the better her odds.

Diamond ShemroskeTry to apply for the care credit card. I feel that would be your best bet. And if not there are some vets that have donation funds they can use to help with patients who can not afford the bill. White angel animal hospital is one call them and talk to them , they are out on 620. I don't know where your located though. Hope you can find your baby help. I know sometimes financially it seems impossible. Just call every where you can. Sometimes it just takes talking to the right person.

Leslee VanWinkle WainscottMaybe someone at Love Pet Hospital. Some places will let you write post dated checks. If you don't think she injured herself she might have a pinched nerve and Acupunture and a chiropractic adjustment could do the trick. That's what they do at Love.

Stephanie MartensMonica Haven has been blocked from the group for suggesting that a found animal not be returned to its family. Regardless of the condition that an animal is found in, we always look for the owners. We do not keep families separated based on our assumptions. We always investigate to find out what the story is. In almost every case, there is a reasonable explanation for the condition. If there is not a reasonable explanation, the authorities will be involved and we will get to the root of the abuse. The only way to stop the cycle of abuse is to confront people that engage in it. Right now, however, we have no way of knowing whether or not there's any abuse involved. All there is is circumstantial evidence, and that is certainly not enough to keep a family from being reunited.

Pat AustinMark Sloat, we need to work together on this. By "we" I mean "the community" in cooperation with Austin Animal Center. We need to educate people that when they find a lost pet, they cannot keep or re-home, they must try to find the owner. All of this is stated in the rules Stephanie Martens has posted for this group, but people don't read that post. We need more community education on this, not just inside Austin city limits, but also out in the county, in Precinct 1 and Precinct 4 especially. I discussed this with Sherri Fleming and Ana Almaguel of Travis County on Tuesday, after the Animal Services item on the agenda. Stephanie, thank you for the good policies you have posted. If you would like to be part if conversation with Travis County Commissioners, please let me know.

Found Dog!

Beautiful young pit bull who looks like she may have recently had puppies. Poor thing is terrified of the thunder and her front paws are all ripped up and bleeding :( No collar, very timid and skiddish. Super sweet. We cant keep her here long because we have cats. 311 estimated 3 days to pick her up! Im not sure what to do. Please spread the word and help us get her back home.

We found her on McNeil Rd just off Howard Ln and MoPac. We almost hit her. She doesnt seem to understand that roads are not for dogs.

We posted her photo on Next Door and our personal FB pages. We tried to get her into the truck to take her to an ER vet, but she wont jump and Im not sure about picking her up.

Im in need of a trap for young mom and kittens. They appear to be dumped, mom will come to you but not allow you to pick her up. Kittens allowed co workers to pick up. Mom now has them in a dangerous spot. They are under a big dumpster behind H-E-B and they will be picking up trash any day now. They will have no where to run when this happens. Im afraid they will be squished. This is in Elgin,Tx.

Beverly LunaKatie Gingrich, I thought this was in Blanco County, but am not sure. Looks like it's just across 165 from where PAWS is building their new shelter. Can you ask Ashley to drop a pin on a map showing where they went missing and post the screenshot here?

Ben PierattAshley Beaty Nichols, Katie Gingrich - is there any detailed information as to the *exact* location where last seen, direction of travel, the time of day or night , circumstances of disappearance, temperaments - did these dogs go missing from somewhere other than their home (could they be headed home?)? etc.etc.

Katie GingrichWhere they went missing, from Ashley's parent's home in Blanco. They are both familiar with this house. They took off before the storm, this is all I know at the moment. I know the exact address but I will not post it here without their permission, see screenshots of the map. They have put up flyers and have spoken with Kat and the tracking service. Ashley has a pretty big work day tomorrow so I don't know how accessible she will be, but her parents are out passing out flyers. Neither dog was wearing tags or is microchipped (please reserve comments/judgment, things happen, lessons learned.) Attached pin.

If you don't go to AAC, but go to another vet for microchip scanning, you can submit their info and pictures by filing found animal reports online at 311.austintexas.gov. Erin BoyleYou should also consider speaking to a pet detective or buying her book/video. You can get her video along with the ebook directly from her website for $25. If you follow all her instructions and still don't find your cat then there is a money back guarantee on the book/video. Many of our members have gotten their cat back by following Kim's advice. I have used her book to help find lost cats too. It will be money well spent. She is also offering 10% off to our group members. www.lostcatfinder.com/austinlostcatmembers

Erin BoyleInside only cats are almost always hiding nearby. Tell all your neighbors and put up neon poster board lost cat signs. Leave a window, garage or door open to your house if possible for them to reenter. Put some of your dirty cloths outside so they can use them to smell their way home. Look under and in everything. Use a flashlight at night to look for eyes. Fear can make even the most tame cat act feral so some need to be trapped. It is also not uncommon for them to be missing for over a week before they come out of hiding. I don't recommend putting their litter box or food outside because it can attract other cats and wildlife that might run off or harm your cat.

I am in desperate need for someone to post on Next Door / TANGLEWOOD FOREST area. A blind man I help had his 16 year old indoor only cat get out on Thurs (11am-6 pm). He literally can't look for her other than sitting out in a chair in his yard for 17 hours a day (which he has done). He lives around CURLEW and MONARCH. Because he is blind
/ lives alone he does not want me putting his address out for safety reasons. Just need a carefully written Lost Cat post. She is a friendly solid black spayed female cat, aged 16 (not chipped). Her name is "momma". You can use my name on the Next Door post.
Stephanie (512) 694-6209 or Jeff (512)292-9169

I have a trap set, my wildlife camera is out there and I have looked on my way into work and on my way home from work. I do not live close to him, so I can't look daily. There are a ton of feral/stray cats in the area and am guessing she got scared and moved away from his yard (yes, I know indoor only cats stay close- I gave him the Lost Cat Detectives book that his comp "read" to him). We just need help posting. He can't check the AAC but has filed a 311 report and believe due to his disability - they are helping him. If you post on ND, can you let me know? THANK YOU!!

Stephanie MartensUnfortunately, putting a litter box out is a very bad idea, but this has been making the rounds on the internet for several months now. We strongly discourage it. This is because it attracts predators and bully cats, and can cause a great deal more harm than good. Doing so can actually prevent your cat from coming home. Instead, we recommend putting out dirty laundry that smells like the owner and/or the cat's bedding, which one of our members already suggested above. Admin

Erin BoyleThis is horribly tragic. If it's a safe area or he can have a friend over, I'd leave a door open for her to re enter. We really need someone who knows what the cat looks like. Posting signs and advertising online is good but there are lots of black cats. Hopefully this one "looks old". Old cats often have color changes to their eyes where they look a little marbled. We may need to look for that but that's not 100% reliable.

Stephanie PecuchShe actually looks about 7-8 - very lively. No sunken in eyes, etc. She is in good shape - no kidney issues, etc. I drive his cats to the vets and she has always been the healthiest.

Adette QuintanaI would also suggest making super sure she isn't just stuck somewhere inside the house. This happened to a blind friend of mine. I found the kitty shut in a closet. Check the garage, closets, in and behind the washer /dryer etc. It happens often.

Krista Anne MontezIf she is still missing by the weekend I'm happy to drive down during the day and help look for her! I am up here in the north and work 8-5 so by the time I could get down there during the week it would be dark. I'm sorry to hear this has happened. Hope I can help!
