Put up the lost cat flyers incase someone took him in. If he could come home he would so it's unlikely I'll get him in my trap but I'll keep an eye out.

Hey, guys. I want to let you know something that I feel like everyone should know that belongs to this group, but I'm not sure that everyone does.

Austin Lost and Found Pets is not just a Facebook group. We are a community service organization, and we are here to physically help you. We have a separate group called the AL&FP Street Team that will assist you or anyone else that is missing a pet. If you need help searching, we will find people that live in your area - or even across town - that will come search with you for your missing pet. We will make signs for you and put them up. We will help you make posts if you're not able to do all of the tasks yourself. Just let us know. We all know how hard this is, and we've been there before. That's why we're here to help. If you have any needs, PLEASE let us know. The Austin Lost and Found Pets Street Team has over 400 members, and we are here to help YOU.

Found a pet? We can scan it for a chip.

It has a chip, but it's not registered? We can track down the owner of animals with unregistered chips at least 90% of the time.

Spot a loose dog? Some of our volunteers may go try to catch it.

A number of us are trained to trap dogs and cats - and we're pretty good. If you know of a dog or cat that has been living on the streets for months, let us know. Once captured, we will do our best to make sure that that dog is fostered with someone that is accustomed to dealing with dogs like that, instead of going into the shelter, which can be really traumatic for any living thing.

And we have fosters. So if you can't hold onto a found animal, let us know. And if you would like to foster for us, we'd LOVE to hear from you.

That is why we're here, and I just realized tonight that we don't advertise that a lot, until somebody's in the middle of something and lets us know (or it's obvious) that they need help.

I want to make sure that you guys know that we have an entire support system here to help you. That's the whole point. I feel like we get really caught up in the rules sometimes, and I end up talking about those, when so many of y'all don't even know what we do to really HELP.

I get asked pretty often why we need donations. It's because we're doing a whole helluva lot more than running a Facebook group. And we need more resources, so that we can do more to help everyone else that's going through the terror of losing a family member. It is truly one of the worst feelings IN THE WORLD, it's A LOT of work, and no one should have to go through it alone.

There are just too many things to do when you're in the middle of intense grief and panic. Everybody needs a helping hand sometimes, and I know that every time that my pets have been missing, I would have given anything to know that other people were helping me. It can be the loneliest feeling in the world. And it is so hard to hang signs all by yourself.

So we are here, and we will run out in the middle of the night with you if you lose your dog at 2 in the morning, if we can. I want you to remember that, and I want you to tell other people that join, if they seem like they need help. Heck! Tell them even if it DOESN'T seem like they need help, because we all do sometimes, and when we have lost a loved one is one of the times when we need it most of all.

Thank you guys all so much for working so hard to help us get pets home. If any of you are interested in joining The AL&FP Street Team to help us help other people find their missing loved ones, please let us know. We would love to work shoulder to shoulder with you, reuniting families and mending broken hearts. ❤

Stephanie MartensI am often surprised when people ask what we actually do, and don't have any idea. We're so busy doing it behind the scenes, though, that I guess it hasn't occurred to me before to really go out of my way to express it since we first started the street team - and we have like 13,000 more group members now. Helping someone that really needs help is one of the best feelings in the world, whether they get around on two legs or four.

Janet Stanish-KnueI'm so glad her owner is picking her up in the morning. I met her tonight at AAC (I'm a volunteer) and felt bad for her bc she was walking with her back really hunched up and just seemed very uncomfortable. After pacing in her kennel for several minutes after I had her out for a potty break, she finally layed down. The veterinarians may exam her in the morning bc I turned in a medical slip stating my concerns about her condition. Also, she's listed as a young adult but that's clearly an error. I know she will be happy to be back home. <3

The owners began to focus their efforts down there. However, the dog was found a number of days later near 37th and Lamar and people said he had been in that area the entire time.

Angelique Maria LongYeah i know. I am not saying we should focus all our energy in the area he left off. But my brother walked with the tracker and the way it moved was exactly how ben would move. Plus he lead them to AAC. Ben likes that place. Ben went to a place he thought people were at. The way that tracker worked was amazing. I had a hard time hiring it, but after it is all said and done. I do think he was on it. I was just disappointed they couldn't go further when there was still a trail. I understand that the dog was tired, but maybe it takes a break and goes back. Ben and my brother are travelers and they walk every where. I really think ben is trying to get home. He should have made a different turn. But who is to say he hasn't already figured it out. Ben is one of the smartest dogs i have ever met. I have faith he will probably be home sleeping in the bed when Mark comes back from one of the searches. This is what i hold on to. I have to

Ben Pierattjust sharing some information passed along from a friend of a friend: """Annel Bautista Hi Kris, Annel's boyfriend. I used to train hunting and k9 dogs. I tracked down several missing dogs and kids so maybe I can share my experiences. There are a few things we should keep in mind: a dog rarely follows straight lines. A dog typically moves in circles and will go back to places where he found food, felt secure or just liked the smell in general. We can see on the map he was doing this. What you can do is leave at these spots objects with your smell like t shirt or dirty underwear (not joking). He will pick up your smell and stay close to that place. I see the last spot.was near a lake. He probably is still in that area. I recommend to leave some clothes at one spot. Don't go walking around yourself. Your smell will be all over the place and your dog might end up running around and getting confused.""""

Kathy MuelkerTessa - the person that finds your dog may not be on Facebook - or know about this lost and group. Distributing flyers and walking the neighborhood, knocking on doors, is very effective. It's important to post ads on Craigslist and to keep checking the AAC website to look at the animals brought into the shelter. Have you gone to the shelter in person and given them a flyer? I'm sure he'll be found soon if you follow all the steps in the Pinned Post in this page, which are aligned with the info on the AAC lost & found webpage. www.austintexas.gov/department/lost-found-pet

Their message is below: Yesterday (Wednesday), around 4pm I saw a dog very simular to your pup walking onto the Ben white hwy...but all cars stopped. I saw a gentleman pick up the dog and place in his car, ..I wish I had more info...I know that she was unharmed but a little nervous. ..I posted your pet alert on my Facebook page.. I will try to find out more info. Please let me know when she returns home.". I need more details!! Where is my baby blue??!!

Meghan DanielsLiltiny Tessa have you put up posters? If this is your baby the person that has her might not be online. See if you can find out there on Ben White the person saw this and put some extra flyers in that area. It might be a route they travel often. Make sure you put them on a bright colorful background to make it easier to see.

Hello Everyone! So this is not a lost or found post but something I feel everyone on this page and every pet page in Austin should know.

So I live right down the road from the Pet Park off Riverside and I35 and have taken my dogs there the past 6 days and usually LOVE this park. Well today a suspicious guy, who I have seen a couple of days ago, tried to take a small dog from the small dog area and tried to lead my dog away the other day. He was tackled and we were able to get the little dog back but I just want to put it out there for everyone to be careful here just incase he try's this again. He was a skinny African American guy, blood shot ready eyes, was wearing a black baggy shirt and black jeans. The cops took him away but just please be careful when taking your pups out to play. I never would have thought something like that would happen in such a public place but today has shown me, anything can happen!

I am going to pickup Angel the dog in my profile picture for her annual visit with her vet.

HOURS:
9 - 9 Monday - Saturday and 10 - 6 Sunday. Please find me if you stop by, says Tonya Wiedman.

In preparation for that I was going to take her to the new Pets Supplies Plus to get a bath prior to visiting the vet. Shes been in the rough with her homeless dad. This store is at MoPac and Parmer Ln Right Next to HEB.

I saw Tonya Wiedman there and she let me know that through the end of March the Dog Wash in the store at MoPac and Parmer, right next to the HEB, is FREE! Saves me from using one of my Dirty Dog Discount Card washes.

In addition they will price match current competitors prices for the same items. So got the cat food, litter and treats that Id normally buy at HEB at Pet Supplies Plus.

Also look on the back of your HEB receipts when you shop there; currently a $5 off coupon is being printed on some of them.

Tonya Wiedman is one of Austin Lost and Found Pets Volunteers who also, like other members, puts her self out their emotionally and financially to help bring closure for the live and deceased pets. Shes also donated products when she can, for the cause.

Lets thank her and PPP by shopping here when we can.

Stephanie MartensThanks so much for sharing this, Frank! I am going to the new store for the first time tomorrow to meet the owner and make plans to continue working with them at the new location.

Jessica L BushThanks for sharing. I was also wondering about their new location. I have used the old one in the past but this one is a few miles closer. Have been using Thomelsons on Burnet Rd lately as it is the closest even though it is slightly more expensive. The plus is that their bathing rooms are separated so if you come in with multiple dogs you can get 1room for your dogs and other people can use the other room.

Tonya WiedmanJessica come check us out! FREE dog wash until the end of the month. $10 per pet after that unless you take advantage of our Dirty Dog wash card, like Frank did, then it's 5 for $25.

Jessica L BushTook the fur kids by and took advantage of the wonderful bathing facility. My mom accompanied me so it took less time and we double teamed it and each had a dog. Thanks Tonya for everything! We will definitely be back in.

Found cat!

Im posting for my neighbor: He found a very friendly, older cat in Windsor Park at Larkwood Dr & Cameron Rd this weekend.

This Maine Coon is male, neutered, declawed, dark in color, with fur that is a bit mangy. He is microchipped but the contact information is way out of date and unhelpful. His name was Dudley at some point. Here are some pictures.

If he belongs to you, post in the comments below and Ill connect you with my neighbor (he isnt on Nextdoor or Facebook). We have brought him to the shelter and have him listed on the found cat list if anyone goes looking for him there, and weve cross-posted this ad in the obvious places. Feel free to share this post.

Stephanie PecuchI would also try and get kitty scanned for a chip. Any vet can do it for free.

Kimberly-Scott GambleThere are several male maine coon cats listed as missing on this site. Please use the search option to pull up all the postings for "lost maine coon". Wishing you and "Dudley" The best of luck in getting him back to his people. FYI - If you will personal message the microchip ID # to Kathy Mueller, Stephanie Martens, or Frank Abernathy, Admins with AL&FP Facebook site, they have ways of tracing the history of the chip and have other contacts which often lead them to the owners of pets!

Dolly EnseyThanks for posting for your neighbor Nicole. Am posting on Windsor Park's Yahoo group and asking a friend to post on WP's NextDoor. Wou ld you mind letting me know whether it was this past Sat or Sun when your neighbor found the cat and approx what time? That's awfully close to busy Cameron Rd behind Capital Plaza Shopping Center, so am thankful your neighbor nabbed him before he reached the road. And just so I understand, the cat is still with you neighbor, not at the shelter?

Erin BoyleDid you get the chip info to one of our admins? They should be able to track the owner down even if not registered. They can do so at least 90% of the time.

Shelly BrownThere's a cat posted on nextdoor that looks similar, I'm trying to compare the face though, because this cat has white near it's lips...the pic. here makes it hard tell... I think it's a different cat, but I'm posted this picture just in case I'm not seeing something. It's a male cat, 14yrs old, been missing since Feb.

Erin BoyleSo sorry your pet is missing. Please see these tips to maximize the chance of finding him and update your post with requested info. Make sure you post in both sections of Craigslist (lost/found and pets) as well as on Nextdoor too. austin.com/lost-found-pet-austin-heres-need-first/

Erin BoyleYou should also consider speaking to a pet detective or buying her book/video. You can get her video along with the ebook directly from her website for only $25. If you follow all her instructions and still don't find your cat then there is a money back guarantee on the book/video. Many of our members have gotten their cat back by following Kim's advice. I have used her book to help find lost cats too. It will be money well spent. She is also offering 10% off to our group members. www.lostcatfinder.com/austinlostcatmembers

Erin BoyleSomething may have happened to prevent them from coming home. Have your neighbors check all their garages and sheds incase he got locked inside. Put up the lost cat flyers incase someone took him in.
