Local Rock Band Good Talk Hits The Nostalgia Button With ‘Sunny Ray’

With the summers being long and hot in Austin, it’s always nice to discover a band that provides a soundtrack for the season, and local act Good Talk do just that with their new song “Sunny Ray.”

Releasing their self-titled album last month, this track is the perfect summer jam as it is a tune that is just as carefree as Austin. With guitar riffs that follow the melodic path of New Jersey indie act Real Estate, Good Talk tops the song off with gorgeous melodies and plenty of nostalgia, as front man Jake Lauterstein sings, “If it was up to me/We’d go back to the old days/Back to the old ways,” making us long for day’s past.

While the tune is a simple one, its sound is well constructed, guaranteed to bring in fans who aren’t familiar with the bands indie rock sound, only widening their fan base and likability.
