L’Oca d’Oro Might Be Our New Favorite Austin Brunch Spot

Sure, you’ve tried migas and huevos rancheros everywhere. And you know where to get pancakes and French toast to get your weekend started on the right foot. But how about brunch with an Italian flare?

That’s exactly what you’ll get at L’Oca d’Oro, as of quite recently. They’ve been open for dinner six days a week, and now they’re expanding their hours and menu to include brunch on Saturday and Sunday. And you’re not going to get just plain old eggs and bacon.

“When thinking about brunch, which is exciting for me, I’m fascinated by looking at people’s expectations of simple foods and exploring ways to exceed them,” Chef Fiore Tedesco told Austin.com. “That, and I like putting eggs on buns.”

Speaking of eggs on buns, one of their new items is the Egg Sandwich. Sounds simple, you may say. Not so fast. This sandwich features rabbit sausage with piperade butter on an English muffin. Now there’s an Italian twist on a brunch classic.

L’OCA D’ORO Brunch 1You can also try their Brioche Bread Pudding with figs and creme fraiche, Sweet Potato Frittata with kale and roasted pepper aioli and the Smoked Steelhead Trout Benny with a poached egg and hollandaise on English muffins. And there’s plenty more to explore on the menu!

And what is brunch without a signature cocktail? L’Oca d’Oro has those, too. This month’s brunch cocktails include the Melon Mimosa featuring sparkling wine on tap and a mint-melon puree; Cucumber Margarita with Cimarron tequila, cucumber-basil juice and lime; and the Bloody Bartolo, a fresh take on a traditional Bloody Mary, combining local Banner vodka, pressed tomato and fermented chile.

L’Oca d’Oro is sure to be the Mueller area’s next big weekend brunch place, so book your reservation online right now!
