Little Free Libraries in Austin and Beyond

Earlier this summer, while following the Pflugerville Hike and Bike Trail, I stumbled upon Little Free Library #1460, hanging on the back fence of a house bordering Pfluger Park.  It was such a nice surprise!  I took a free book and it made my week.

Little Free Library boxes are popping up all over the country, beckoning passersby to take a book, or leave a book.  It’s such a delightful way to share with your neighbors.   My teenage daughter is so enamored with the idea, she wants us to build a box of our own.

You can visit the Little Free Library map to find a box near you, or you can just keep your eyes peeled when you’re out and about.  I have discovered four boxes this summer, without even trying!  I now keep books to donate in my car, just in case I spot a Little Free Library in the wild.

According to the map, there are 35 Little Free Libraries in Austin, plus one in Pflugerville, one in Round Rock, one in Cedar Park, one in Leander, and two in Hutto.

If you want to see some fun photos of Little Free Libraries around the world, check out the Little Free Library page on Instagram or Facebook.

Happy hunting!
