Calling All Creative, Business Savvy Types! CreateAThon 2016 Needs You

Do you own a non-profit that needs help with promotions or communicating properly with clients, but cannot afford it? Are you a creative individual who enjoys helping others further their business? In comes CreateAThon, an organization started in 1998 by Teresa Coles and Cathy Monetti, who were both principles at Riggs Partners, an advertising company in Columbia, South Carolina. Wanting to help businesses who could not afford to spend money on polishing their marketing and communication skills, they came up with the idea of staying awake for 24 hours to help those companies in need, all on a pro-bono basis.

Several years later in 2002, CreateAThon was born, and the partners’ dream became a reality. Twelve years after its launch, 100 partners, and more than 3,500 projects later, CreateAThon was recently granted 501(c)3 status. Due to the organization’s efforts, they have helped 1,100 companies in the United States and Puerto Rico, while delivering 2,500 projects which are valued at $11 million.

Beginning in Austin in 2012, CreateAThon will be helping the following organizations for 2016: A Legacy of Giving, Extend-A-Care Kids, For The Children, and others. This year, CreateAThon will be coming back to Austin, courtesy of sponsor BuildASign. The event will be held at the BuildASign offices at 11525A  Stonehollow Dr. Ste. 100, and will run from 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 27 to 12 p.m. on Friday, October 28. The event is still looking for volunteers in the following areas: designers, copy writers, creative directors, art directors, graphic designers, and marketing professionals. Food, coffee, and breaks will be provided throughout the night.

If you are interested in volunteering, you can fill out the form here.
