How to Save on Hawaiian Falls Pflugerville

Hawaiian Falls Waterparks opened their new Pflugerville location yesterday and I took six eager kids to hit the slides.  Many of the water attractions remained closed throughout opening day, awaiting their final cleaning, but we still managed to find six hours worth of fun (and left with the kids begging to return).

If you’d like the full waterpark experience at Hawaiian Falls, I recommend waiting at least a week, when hopefully all of the water attractions will be up and running.  Although the cheerful lifeguards were hard at work sweeping mud off of sidewalks after yesterday’s rain, a good deal of the park is still clearly under construction. Over the next few weeks, Hawaiian Falls is planning $600,000 worth of improvements to the $23.5 million entertainment complex, including landscaping and the completion of the Adventure Park attractions.  But, for now, the only bathrooms available are inside a portable trailer, and the park has the feel of being a work in progress. I look forward to returning later in the summer, to see the finished product.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Reef Racers (slide races on blue mats) is the only slide that children 42″ tall can ride. All other slides require riders to be at least 48″ tall. Click here to read about the rides.
  • Children under 42″ can enjoy a lazy river (Pfluger Cooler), a children’s activity pool (Splashwater Harbor), and a wave pool (Breaker Beach). There are no slides in Splashwater Harbor, only water fountain mushrooms and bubblers. There is a lilypad crossing for taller children at one end of the pool.
  • If your child is wearing a life jacket, they must stay in the shallow end of the wave pool. Floaties are not permitted (at least in the wave pool).  Hawaiian Falls has free life jackets to borrow.
  • Parking is $5.
  • If you’d like to bring your own food or drinks, you must pay the $10 cooler fee.  If you’d prefer to leave to eat, Stone Hill Town Center is nearby, with fast food options.  However, there is no come-and-go parking, so I believe you will have to pay $5 again if you leave.
  • When you leave, ask for a reentry band which allows you to return later in the day.
  • If it rains continuously for 15 minutes, or if the attractions are closed due to bad weather, all paid guests will receive a complimentary ticket good for any normal operating day through this Labor Day. Guests receive the free return ticket even if the park stays open. Guarantee excludes season passes and rain or bad weather starting after 4:00 p.m. Details here.
