Here’s How to Have The Most Wonderful Wimberley Getaway

After the stress of the holidays and the disappointment of 2020 has passed, you may be feeling the need for a getaway. We’ve got the perfect solution! Grab your girls, guys, or a mix of both and head to Wimberley for an easy  staycation option not too far from home. Heck, bring the whole family!

First off, let’s talk lodging. If you need space to accommodate numerous couples and singles alike we recommend finding a house to rent like the Good Morning Ranch by Lodgewell.

Both the location and the set up are perfect. It’s easy to scoot into town, but you also have everything you need if you want to spend the whole time away from humanity. Sitting on a 10-acre ranch, the house can accommodate eight and includes all the comforts of home!

Here’s a suggested rundown based on how we spent our two night girls getaway in Wimberley.

Day 1 – Get Your Wimberley Getaway Started

Stop at a winery on your way out to Wimberley, like Driftwood Estate or Duchman Family Winery. Perhaps even grab lunch at the Salt Lick

Whether you lunch or not, you’re going to need provisions. You can grab them at the HEB in town. Once you’re stocked up, check into the ranch  and relax on the screened in porch with snacks and a drink.

Head into town around 7:30 p.m. for dinner. We chose the Leaning Pear for Hill Country inspired cuisine. Back at the house around 930, we popped open a bottle of bubbly and fired up the fireplace. There’s also a giant fire pit outdoors.

Day 2 – Take To the Town

Wake up early the next morning and enjoy the morning fog as you wander the grounds and snap pictures or simply take in the atmosphere.

Following your morning walk about, head into town for coffee at Sip on the Square and/ or brunch at Wimberley Cafe. Wander through the shops like Wildflower, The Gypsy Market, and many more. Mosey down to the river and snap pics with the many boots around town. Finally, stop for post shopping sips at Los Olivos followed by dinner at Community Pizza and Beer Garden. We ordered ours to go so we could get back and enjoy an early evening at the ranch.

If you aren’t into shopping, you may want to see Pioneer Town instead. You can read all about what they have to offer here.

Back at the ranch, bring out the telescope and marvel at that star filled sky. Be sure to download an app so you know exactly what you’re looking at. And exactly what you’re looking for for that matter.

Not ready for bed? There is a TV equipped with the latest streaming apps, but we chose to have some good old fashioned fun and played a game instead.

Day 3 – Head Back to Austin

Enjoy a good night’s sleep so you can make the most of your final good morning before hitting the road back to Austin. If you stopped at a winery on the way out, perhaps you should try a distillery or a brewery on the way back. Depending on the day, you can visit Vista Brewing or the Deep Eddy Vodka Tasting Room. Closer to home there’s Treaty Oak and Jester King.
