Grand Opening of Georgetown’s Creative Playscape

On Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10 a.m., the public is invited to celebrate the Grand Opening of Georgetown’s newly revamped Creative Playscape. Where once there was a wooden wonderland of tunnels and towers, now sits a shiny new playground with elevated walkways and long slides. You can see the final renderings of the modernized fort playground here.

The reason for the playscape redesign, according to the news release, was to bring the equipment up to Title II of the American with Disabilities Act, as well as current Texas Health and Safety Code, standards. Creative Playscape now features “a new accessible playscape design with durable and safe materials.”

Although it was sad to see the old playscape go, this new layout is much more open, which will make it easier to keep track of your children.  It also boasts interesting additions like unique swings and a giant rock to climb.  Sentimentality aside, the new community playground will offer plenty of fun options for littles to explore.

Summertime refreshments will be served at the Grand Opening celebration on Wednesday. Free parking is available next to the Georgetown Recreation Center.
