The weather is perfect this time of year for getting out in the community. The North by North Austin (NXNA) Garden Tour provides a perfect chance to get out of the house and “Grow, Create and Connect” on a beautiful spring day.
The North Austin Neighborhood Associations have teamed up again with the Love North Austin blog to host the second annual North by North Austin Garden & Artisan Tour on Saturday May 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour will cover 24 public and private gardens between Wells Branch and Allandale, with stops that include Austin’s own music hostel, Earphoria, and Austin’s newest community garden, Adelphi Acres.
Some of the featured gardens have a focus on low water use and use of native Texas plants, while others are official wildlife habitats. There will also be live performances and art for sale in each garden.
Tour maps will be available at one of the three starter gardens on the morning of May 2nd:
- 1701 Pheasant Roost (a block off of Prairie Hen & Gracy Farms)
- 3701 Adelphi Ln (Adelphi Community Garden, Water Park & Adelphi)
- 8503 Rockwood (across the street from Pillow Elementary School)
Tickets are a suggested $10 donation and can be purchased online. All proceeds raised by this volunteer run tour will support the beautification of Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park and McBee Elementary.
