With the majority of homes having been built in the 1930s and 40s, Rosedale is an area brimming with charm. Near downtown, but still away from all of the hustle and bustle, this neighborhood offers close proximity to all of Austin’s fun while still providing the quaint feel of an intimate community setting. Walk to local businesses or the gorgeous Ramsey Park, and sleep better at night knowing that an extensive network of medical services is close at hand. Rosedale is also one of the best areas for local eats. Uchiko, Fonda San Miguel, and Chi’Lantro are all in the neighborhood, making this a palatable destination to live, indeed.
This North Central gem is known as a time-capsule from the good old days. Bungalows and ranch homes lace the tree-lined streets, and fellow friendly neighbors can often be found walking, jogging, and exploring the gorgeous locale. Feeling hungry? Grab a brew and a bite at Black Star Co-Op or a slice at Little Deli and Pizzeria, or jump on the Crestview Metro stop for a quick ride downtown.
Crestview’s neighbor might not seem like much at first glance, but a double take will reveal the treasure trove that is North Austin’s Burnet Road. Overflowing with amazing bites (Peached Tortilla, Barley Swine, and Buffalina Due, for example) and funky shops (Recycled Reads and Top Drawer Thrift are just a couple of favorites), this is a thrifty and fun area to call home. Just be sure you pronounce it right if you’re going to live in this Austin neighborhood — here’s how.
This South Austin spot has so much to offer – affordability, easy access to highways and local hot spots like SoCo, and plenty of restaurants, gyms, and parks in walking distance. An active neighborhood with plenty of community events and streets lined with mature oak trees provide that small-town feel with big-town amenities. Planning a day in the area? Hike the trails of Mary Moore Searight Park, go for a hole in one at Grey Rock Golf Club, feast on some Tex-Mex at Maudie’s and enjoy a sweet treat or five at Crema Bakery and Cafe.
Both the natural scenery and ideal location of Barton Hills make this Austin neighborhood a favorite one. Whether it be hiking, biking, shopping, dining or nightlife, so many activities are just a stone’s throw away. Safety and top schools are just another reason that Barton Hills is an amazing spot for young families. Barton Creek Greenbelt runs through the area, and Zilker Park and Lady Bird Lake are just a quick drive away. After a day of adventuring, take some time to dine at TacoDeli, Bouldin Creek Cafe, or the newly opened Salt Traders Coastal Company.
Less than three miles from downtown, Zilker is both a gorgeous and eclectic area to find an abode. From condominiums to historic estates, this neighborhood is full of older but newly renovated housing with stunning interiors. Take a walk through Zilker Botanical Gardens, a dip in Barton Springs and a break with some sangria at Shady Grove before spending the rest of the day exploring the 351 miles of fun at Zilker Metropolitan Park.
