Welcome Home, Gary Clark Jr.

We got ACL started a day early by rocking out to Jackie Venson and Gary Clark Jr. at Stubbs on Thursday. Both artists hail from the ATX. We’ll be sitting down with Venson soon to learn more about her background and how Austin has influenced her career. Stay tuned for that. BTW, GCJ plays the ACL Music Fest on Saturday.

That’s What She Said

The W Austin hosted an inspired female focused event on Thursday. “What She Said,” a celebration of women’s successes, featured Alexis Davis (founder of The Content Plug), Brandy Pham (co-founder and CMO/CCO of PLANOLY), Shayda Torabi (co-founder of RESTART CBD), Elisa Sepulveda (regional managing director of The Riveter), Najuma Atkinson (SVP chief customer office at Dell), and Candice Digby (co-founder of Austin Design Week).

Go Gaga for Hotel Zaza

The Hotel Zaza is now open near Republic Square. Last Friday, they hosted an opening event with Austin’s elite. And by elite we mean every newscaster, Instagram influencer, blogger, and anyone else related to Austin media. The hotel is pretty darn chic. We recommend checking it out on your next night out downtown.

“Friday Night Lights” Turns 17

“Friday Night Lights” premiered 17 years ago this week. Can you believe it? 17 years and yours truly is still talking about it like it was yesterday. In fact, we recently posted a list of the filming locations you can still find in the ATX area. Check it out here
