Free Youth Fishing Derby in Round Rock

The City of Round Rock invites you to a Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Bright Lake in Old Settlers Park. The event is free but pre-registration is strongly encouraged.



The Youth Fishing Derby will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Bright Lake in Old Settlers Park. The event is for kids ages 3-12 and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Participants must provide all their own equipment and one fishing pole per child. There will be some worms onsite, but feel free to bring your own bait. Bright Lake is home to bass, catfish and sunfish, so prepare accordingly. Size 6-8 is a good all-round hook size.


Schedule of Events:

  • 6:45 to 9 a.m.: Check In/Late Registration
  • 7 to 11 a.m.: Fishing
  • 8 to 11 a.m.: Activities

Prizes will be awraded for the Largest Bass Caught Overall, Largest Fish Caught in each division and Most Fish Caught in each division.
