Free Tot-Smarts Sample Classes

Fact: A 3-year-old child’s brain is twice as active as an adult brain.

If you have a little one at home, this is likely no surprise to you.  It can be a challenge to keep up with the busy mind of a toddler!

Tot-Smarts, a local “Mommy & Me” program for children ages 18 months to 3 years, hopes to help excite your pre-preschooler about learning, by putting their active noggins to good use. With a combination of logic activities and imaginative art exploration, Tot-Smarts provides toddlers with a fun, energetic environment to stimulate both the left and right sides of the brain.

Miss Anuva and Miss Kate, the mastermind mamas behind Tot-Smarts, provide curious toddlers with colorful toys, games, and crafts, designed to inspire their creativity.  The dynamic duo also entertains, with interactive stories, songs, puppets, and more!
Recently, Free Fun in Austin contributors Katey, from Having Fun at Home, and Leigh Ann, from Genie in a Blog, each took their girls to try a free Tot-Smarts sample class.  Here is what they had to say about their experience.

Katey commented, “I liked the selection of toys; they all promoted open-ended, creative play. The time for free play at the beginning gave me a chance to chat a little with other moms and also helped my daughter feel more comfortable in the environment.” Read more about Katey’s visit with her 3-year-old here.

Leigh Ann said, “One thing I really appreciated about the atmosphere is that the children were encouraged to take part in circle time, but they were also not discouraged from exploring the toys in the room. Miss Anuva and Miss Kate kept each segment short and sweet, ensuring that the kids didn’t lose interest, but sometimes it can be hard to keep the attention of the 18 month – 3 year old crowd, so it was nice not to feel pressure to keep Zoe in my lap if she became interested in something else…. I’m not going to lie, that 50 minute class flew by. Each segment was just long enough to engage the children in valuable learning activities, but short enough that they didn’t get bored or antsy.”  Read more about Leigh Ann’s visit with her 2.5-year-old here.

Tot-Smarts currently offers free sample classes every Monday at Northwest Recreation Center.  You can sign up to try a class at 10 a.m. or at 11:10 a.m. Also, if you love the class and sign up with a friend, you will both receive a $20 discount off your first session.  That will make your total $90 for 8 weeks of classes (which works out to $11.25 per 50-minute class).
