What are you doing Sunday, October 25? Whatever you’ve got on the calendar, you’d best make room to head to HOPE Farmers Market in East Austin from noon to 2:30 PM to watch the awesome Keepin’ It Weird Youth Troupe perform their latest sketch comedy LIVE!
That’s right — slapstick is funny again! Come watch kids poke fun at the world around them through age-appropriate situational and observational humor.
What is Keepin’ It Weird TV?
Keepin’ It Weird TV is a Web series that’s written by kids and acted out by a youth comedy actors’ ensemble. (Check out the Season 1 cast here and the Season 2 cast here — aside from their impressive acting chops, almost all are lifelong Austinites!)
Created by Cassandra Dixson — an ambitious teenager who’s also an Austin native — Keepin’ It Weird TV blends a little Saturday Night Live with a sprinkle of Portlandia-style local humor to entertain both youths and the young-at-heart. Its sketches and characters (such as Chauncy, ARTie and Duwbya from the Skeeters) embody kids’ perspectives of the adult world around them, sprinkled with a heavy dose of Austin Weird humor. U Better Sing, Youth Performers and Sonic Sprout will also give live music performances at HOPE Farmers Market that day, and there will be raffle drawings for prizes, with winners announced during the show. All proceeds will go to the Keepin’ It Weird TV Season 2 fundraising drive!
