KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove is back this Thursday with a performance by Ray Wylie Hubbard. Hubbard’s musical journey began back in the ’60s as a folk singer/songwriter and is well-known for his “ragged-but-right vocals and lyrical wits”. Please note, additional free parking is available at Bicycle Sports Shop and at the southeast corner of Barton Springs & Lamar. Soul Thursdays at The Blackheart with ROXY ROCA and Mrs. Glass

This dynamite duo of bands is kicking off their new residency every Thursday at the Blackheart by serving up lots of booty-shaking and feel good soul. These acts are high energy with talented front men who don’t disappoint. Show starts at 9pm. FREE! (The Blackheart, 86 Rainey, Austin, TX)

Art & Soul Presents: Eastside Art OutsideArt & Soul, a new art studio in Mueller with a dedication to creativity, inspiration and pride of all artistic forms, is hosting a night to celebrate all things ART. Austinites can explore the art studio and surrounding area to meet local artists and purchase goods. There will be free demonstrations for visitors to participate in, live music, and great food to enjoy. This FREE event is from 5 to 9pm. (Art and Soul Studio, 3801 Berkman Drive, Austin)

FIRST THURSDAY on South Congress
First Thursday happens this week and takes place along South Congress Avenue, generally from Barton Springs Road to Elizabeth Street. The SoCo block party starts at 6pm and the stores along South Congress that normally close early stay open late until about 10pm. They will be joined by craft vendors, live music, and special guests. A FREE monthly celebration, every First Friday, of all things art, music and community, featuring the SprATX family of artists. Beyond Beauty: More Than Meets the Eye
Color will bathe the West 6th Street art gallery when Ash Almonte and John Petrey display their latest works including sculptural dresses, stunning chandelier paintings and cheery odes to fruit, which are all inspired by individual experiences the two artists had during their childhoods. Their work will be on display and available for purchase as part of their artists’ reception this Saturday, 6-9pm. (Russell Collection Art Gallery, 1137 West 6th Street, Austin)


SURE THING comedy show at the original Austin Java, 8pm. Headliners include performers seen on Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, Letterman, and more, as well as the city’s best comics on the rise, plus special out-of-town guests. Hosted by Duncan Carson and Brendan K. O’Grady. These events have been filling up quickly so be sure to get there early! Kicks off this Sunday, from 2-6pm, with DJ Mixer Rogers spinning and live music by The Rocketboys at 4pm. The Rocketboys are Abilene natives with a vibe reminiscent of both Deathcab for Cutie and Coldplay. They are on their way to performing their 700th show this year, be sure to catch them on their stop through our great city. RSVP for FREE tickets.
