Night of Comedy and Hip Hop at Empire Control Room

Jam packed night of FREE laughs and hip hop starts at 8pm and will feature seven comics and ten artists, including Mitch Mekulsia and The Eric White. With a line-up like this I’m thinking anything could happen! 21+ only. (Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th, Austin)

Soul Thursdays at The Blackheart with ROXY ROCA and Mrs. Glass
This dynamite duo of bands is still rocking their residency at the Blackheart every Thursday by serving up lots of booty-shaking and feel good soul. These acts are high energy with talented frontmen who don’t disappoint. Show starts at 9:30pm. FREE! (The Blackheart, 86 Rainey, Austin)

Patton Sparks at Nutty Brown Cafe
Their 2nd EP “Love, Texas, & Me” pays tribute to the country duo’s southern rock and blues influences such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Known for grabbing the listener at “the get go” they will be playing a FREE show on the patio at Nutty Brown from 7-10 pm. (Nutty Brown Cafe, 12225 Highway 290 West, Austin)

Head for the Hill’s: Whiskey Sisters

Hill’s Cafe is back again with their Friday music series featuring Whiskey Sisters this Friday, from 7-9pm. Fresh off their “Bands to Watch in 2014” mention in Austin Monthly, the Whiskey Sisters will bring their harmony-driven, rockin’ country to Hill’s for a FREE show. Concert in the Park: Radiostar
Elizabeth Milburn Park in Cedar Park is bringing back the ’80s in all its glory this Friday with a FREE show by Radiostar at 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, AND your favorite 80’s flare. So dig deep in your closet- find those jellies, fluorescent leg warmers, and vintage Madonna tees! Pecan Street Festival

One of Austin’s oldest and most beloved FREE festivals, this semi-annual celebration of art will include over 60 music acts throughout the weekend. There will be food vendors, hundreds of local and national artisans, demonstrations and giveaways by sponsors, and plenty of activities including street magicians and a petting zoo. Event is Saturday 11am – 10pm and Sunday 11am – 8pm.(Sixth Street Historic District downtown, Austin)

Open House with Free Classes at Go Dance


Always wanted to try out a dance class, but need a test drive first? Check out Go Dance’s Open House this Saturday! It’s FREE and you can take 1,2, or ALL the classes offered. The schedule is as follows: Free introductory classes for new dancers: 6:10pm Two Step, 6:50pm Swing, 7:30pm Salsa. UT Longhorn’s vs Kansas Jayhawks at Maggie Mae’s

Check out the UT game at Maggie Mae’s and score some FREE BBQ in their clubroom. Starts at 7pm and I’m sure the BBQ won’t last too long as it’s first come, first serve. KUTX Austin FREE MUSIC SERIES at Uncle Billy’s Brewery & BBQ

Sunday music series 2-6pm, with DJ Mixer Rogers spinning and live music by Matthew Mayfield at 4pm. Full of charm and talent to match, Mayfield has toured with such artists as Pete Yorn, Switchfoot and Blue October and licensed songs to numerous television shows, including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Nashville,” “Hart of Dixie” and “Ringer,” to name a few.
