9th Annual Tree Lighting at Hill Country Galleria

The fun starts at 6 pm in the outdoor amphitheater, with a special performance by 14-year-old Austin native Madison McWilliams. Then, the Lake Travis High School Cavalettes & the Red Rubies take the stage. Studio512’s Amanda Tatom will be on hand to help welcome Santa to the stage and light the big holiday tree! Afterward, a 5-minute firework show will take place, followed by live music by the Plain White T’s! (Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Blvd, Bee Cave)

Movies in the Park: Crazy Carl and His Man Boobs

Join the fun of FREE Movies in the Park at 6:15 this Thursday with Crazy Carl and His Man Boobs. This locally produced documentary explains how Austin got its groove by telling the story of one particular personality, Crazy Carl. Come out and enjoy these crisp autumn nights with friends.  Dogs, picnics, and lawn chairs are all welcome. Alcoholic beverages, smoking, glass and styrofoam are not permitted in the park. Creek Show Light Display

Presented by the Waller Creek Conservancy, Creek Show is a way to celebrate Waller Creek and bring awareness to the future transformation coming to the creek, trails and surrounding parks. Five art installations designed by local artists, architects, and landscape architects are the main attraction and can be viewed at any time between tonight and Saturday, November 21. Because they are all light-based, they are best viewed at night. (Waller Creek, between 5th St and 8th St., Austin)

Throwback Thursdays with Jack Burton Trio

Hostelling International Austin presents Lakeside 2-Steppin

Join a night of 2 steppin’ in Peace Point Park on Lady Bird Lake! Dance the night away on an outdoor dance floor to wonderful live music by Ben Rodgers at 7:30 pm and a FREE 2 step dance lesson from esteemed instructor, Campbell Miller at 6:30 pm. Jitterbug Vipers at C-Boys Heart & Soul

The Jitterbug Vipers specialize in a beloved cult jazz offshoot called “viper jazz,” a screeching U-Turn back to the party where jazz music packed the dance floor and dazzled the audience with brilliant streams of improvisatory musicianship. This musical heritage pulls from the cherished musicality of Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, and Slim Galliard. Show is FREE and starts at 6:30 pm. East Austin Studio Tour (EAST)

This is the last weekend for EAST, a FREE, annual, self-guided art event providing the public with an opportunity to meet the makers: the local artists and artisans who leave a lasting imprint on Austin’s vibrant, dynamic culture. Tour-goers are invited to discover new artistic talent, see working studios, learn about artists’ tools, techniques, and inspirations, and explore unique spaces and local businesses.
