16th Annual AHS Car Raffle

This is your chance to get tickets for the AHS car raffle before they are available online, plus see this year’s paw-some car up close. They’ll have sweet treats and adoptable animals on hand, plus the first 25 car raffle ticket buyers get a free brew! As always, only 5,000 raffle tickets will be sold. Each ticket provides one night of safe shelter, medical care, and love for an animal at the Austin Humane Society.

Addicted to Singing in the Capitol Rotunda

Join every second Thursday of the month at the State Capitol rotunda to sing songs of social justice, traditional and contemporary protest songs, and the signature “revolutionary snark”! You never know who will show up, which is half the fun of this event – some nights they convince legislators, staffers or tourists to join in a song or two; some nights they have the whole joint to themselves and spend the evening serenading the DPS Officers! It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a revolutionary song in your heart!

2020 Visions Opening Art Exhibitions at the AARC
Friday, January 10 | from 6 to 8 p.m. | Asian American Resource Center, 8401 Cameron Road

Kick off the new year with four new art and history exhibits! From a teen anime/ manga art show to a journey through time with antique clocks, the Asian American Resource Center is proud to showcase works that reflect Austin’s diverse communities and cultures. An exhibit opening reception celebrating all participating artists and exhibitions will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 6-8pm. The event is free and open to the public. Friday Night Bluegrass

Willie Love to Run

The Willie Run is a creative three mile run that intersects the Butler Park, crosses Lady Bird Lake, and strolls through the entertainment district of downtown, passing by the statue of one of Austin’s most iconic singer-songwriters. Enjoy hot chocolate, Ruta Maya coffee, and other snacks when you finish. The Willie Love to Run will start and finish at the Austin American-Statesman. Run, walk, skip, or stroll at this free event.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
Saturday, January 11 | from 2 to 6 p.m. | Mueller Lake Park, 4550 Mueller Boulevard

All Austinities are invited to the 28th Grand Finale of Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity that will take place on January 11 at the Amphitheater at Mueller Lake Park. This family friendly, free-entry will offer live music featuring a brass band Blowcomotion, a rock band The Planet Texas, and a Polish artist Amy Maniak. They will also have free yoga classes, book-swap, art and crafts vendors, interesting auctions, CPR classes, and much more. All funds raised will be transferred to finance the purchase of medical equipment for pediatric surgery and subsequent treatment in Poland.
