UT Austin Landmarks presents Woodcut Motion Picture Artist Jay Bolotin
Landmarks, the public art program of The University of Texas at Austin, and PrintAustin will present a performance and Q&A with artist, writer, musician, performer, and filmmaker Jay Bolotin. The screening of The Jackleg Testament Part I: The Story of Jack & Eve starts at 5:30pm, is followed by a Q&A, and closes with a reception. The event is FREE and refreshments will be provided. Afrofreque at C-Boys

Movie Riot: A Live Comedy Double Header Event
Starting at 7pm, two teams of comedy juggernauts take the ColdTowne Theater stage to create brand new, never-before-seen movies live on stage. From a given song title or lyric, the performers will lovingly craft complete improvised films, all made up on the spot. The event does charge a $5 cover, BUT there will be FREE margaritas, popcorn, and movie candies. (Coldtowne Theatre, 4803 Airport Blvd, Austin)

Head for the Hill’s FREE Music Fridays

FREE Music Fridays are back at Hill’s Cafe. This week features Zack Walther & The Cronkites from 7-9pm. This Americana band from New Braunfels opened for Kevin Fowler at Brazoria Fest. Come hear their new album! (Hill’s Cafe, 4700 South Congress, Austin)

The World According to Rob Jones
Local Austinite Rob Jones won a Grammy award last January for his packaging design of Jack White’s “Under Great White Northern Lights.” SouthPop is hosting an opening reception from 7-9pm with a selection of his works from early in his career though his more recent work with world class bands like Jack White, The Raconteurs, Arcade Fire, and the Arctic Monkeys, to name a few. Entry is a $5 suggested donation, FREE for members. There will be live music and refreshments for all. There is no parking at the center, so please park on Collier Street. The exhibition will run through March 28, 2015 during SouthPop’s regular hours – Thursday – Sunday, 1- 6pm (South Austin Popular Culture Center, 1516-B South Lamar Blvd, Austin)

Go Dance Free Samba Class
Go Dance is celebrating its 20 year anniversary in 2015! They are kicking off their year-long celebration with free workshops all through January. It’s also a great time to learn something new and bring a friend along to share in the joy of dance! This Saturday, they’ll be offering a FREE Samba class at Go Dance Lakeway from 11:45-1:15pm. Drawing Salon @ Elisabet Ney

Embrace your inner artist this month and join in the drawing fun at Elisabet Ney! Using their sculptural works as inspiration, participants will develop observational and conceptual skills through unique drawing exercises. The Museum will provide all required materials, and trained staff members will offer constructive advice and guidance. Participation is FREE each Saturday this month from 10am-12pm.
