Holiday Sing-Along with The Vintage 15

Join a holiday sing-along with The Vintage 15! Enjoy FREE live music from 6:30-8:30 pm. Bring a blanket, sit back, and sing-along to The Vintage 15, a hot up-and-coming big band. First Thursday on South Congress

First Thursday happens this week and takes place along South Congress Avenue, generally from Barton Springs Road to Elizabeth Street. The SoCo block party starts at 6 pm and the stores along South Congress that normally close early stay open late, until about 10 pm. They will be joined by craft vendors, live music, and special guests. One of Austin’s best block parties! (South Congress Avenue, Austin)

Throwback Thursdays with Jack Burton Trio

Lights up! Talent Showcase at The New Movement

Holiday Tree Lighting and Santa’s Workshop

On this magical night, join the tradition of the Cedar Park tree lighting from 6:30-9 pm. Over 65,000 lights will illuminate the largest Live Oak Tree in Cedar Park. Santa’s Workshop will kick off immediately following the tree lighting ceremony. Enjoy live music, carriage rides, games and prizes, inflatables, photos with Santa (bring your own camera), and arts & crafts projects. FREE Admission. A Dickens Christmas in Lockhart

On the first weekend in December each year, the courthouse square is transformed into a Dickens’ style Christmas. Enjoy two days of FREE entertainment, food, and arts & craft vendors in a relaxed family-friendly shopping experience. The event kicks off with a lighted parade Friday night at 7 pm.  (Dr.  Eugene Clark Library, Courthouse District, 217 South Main Street, Lockhart)

FREE Comedy: In the Treehouse with Chris Castles

One of the longest running FREE comedy shows in Austin. The headliner this week is a natural; the mastermind behind “Weird! True Hollywood Tales”, she was featured on Last Comic Standing. LASHONDA LESTER dudes and dudettes! Jitterbug Vipers at C-Boys Heart & Soul

The Jitterbug Vipers specialize in a beloved cult jazz offshoot called “viper jazz,” a screeching U-Turn back to the party where jazz music packed the dance floor and dazzled the audience with brilliant streams of improvisatory musicianship. This musical heritage pulls from the cherished musicality of Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, and Slim Galliard. Show is FREE and starts at 6:30 pm. The Holiday Austin Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin’s most amazing and talented vendors. Free Blue Lapis Light “Requiem” Screening & Indiegogo Launch Party

Join the Blue Lapis Light community in their new Studio for a rare screening of one of their most celebrated performances: 2006’s Requiem. You’ll learn more about BLL’s next innovative site dance work, Radiance, at the Long Center in 2016, and have the opportunity to contribute to their Indiegogo campaign (with special perks). Holiday Sing-Along and Austin Downtown Stroll

Join the Downtown Austin Alliance and KUT/KUTX to kick off the holidays with the FREE annual Holiday Sing-Along and Downtown Stroll! The evening starts at 6 pm, when crowds gather on the south steps of the Capitol to sing the songs of the season. As the clock strikes 7 pm, the countdown to the lighting of the Capitol tree begins, featuring a programmed light show at the top and bottom of every hour, set to holiday songs of local Austin musicians. Join in to hear live music from the Invincible Czars, Bob Appel, and The Austin School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Other fun activities include the Austin Bike Zoo, Photos with Santa, an outdoor film screening, a performance from St. Edward’s University Ballet Folklorico and more! Shops, restaurants, galleries, and museums will also be open late and will feature special activities and offers. If you can, please support fellow members of the community by bringing non-perishable food to the Capitol Christmas tree for the Capital Area Food Bank. SURE THING Comedy at Austin Java Parkway

Founded in 2012, SURE THING has grown to become Austin’s most popular and acclaimed stand-up showcase. This week Rob Gagnon (Fun Fun Fun Fest, Crom Comedy Festival, Stoned Vs. Drunk Vs. Free First Sunday at the Bullock
