Loving Vincent explores the life and controversial death of Vincent Van Gogh, told by his paintings and the characters who inhabit them. To create the first fully painted animated feature, 125 artists came together from all over the world to paint each of the 65,000 works of art on canvas needed to for the film. You are invited to experience this Academy Award nominated adventure into the mysterious mind of the artist behind such masterpieces as Starry Night, Irises and Café Terrace at Night. Free popcorn and light refreshments will be available. Loving Vincent is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for audiences under the age of 13.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Texas Film Round-Up, the Texas Archive of the Moving Image is bringing the program back to Austin! From April 20 to 22, Team TAMI will be on-site on the second floor of the to collect Texas-related films and videotapes for FREE digitization. Drop-off hours will be 12 to 7 p.m. on April 20 and 21, and 12 to 4 p.m. on April 22. To kick things off, head to the ! Opening day of the exhibition “Get in the Game: The Fight for Equality in American Sports.” The exhibit examines the intersection of social justice and sports in the United States and celebrates athletes who have broken barriers and spoken out for equality, both on and off the playing field. Beginning in the late 19th century and continuing through current day, Get in the Game encourages visitors to think about sports as part of an ongoing national conversation and as a vehicle for social change. Rough Road to Texas Independence Walking Tour

Learn all about the Texas 1835-1836 fight for independence from Mexico in less than an hour! Actors will portray stories of Oakwood Cemetery heroic “residents” who fought in the battles of the Revolution, survived the Alamo, escaped the Goliad massacre, and helped form the Texas Republic. 45 minute walking tours start every ~30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are presented by Save Austin’s Cemeteries non-profit. Kids under adult supervision are welcome, but please leave your pets at home and wear closed-toed shoes. Free, but donations gladly accepted to help fund preservation projects.
