Scoot Inn Grand Re-Opening Celebration

East Austin’s most historic music venue and event space, The Scoot Inn, has undergone a series of renovations this year, in honor of the venue’s 145th birthday. To celebrate this special anniversary, they’re holding an official grand re-opening celebration starting at 4pm and lasting until the wee hours of 2am. As part of the renovation, they’re unveiling Ivy’s Room at The Scoot Inn, a comfortable and eclectic lounge space where patrons are encouraged to enjoy a drink and relax while listening to a live piano player. The Atomic Spins at Stubb’s

Enjoy a rare FREE show at Stubb’s! Check out the explosive guitars, valiant bass grooves and eclectic percussive beats that conspire to create The Atomic Spins! The show starts at 11pm (doors at 10pm) and is all ages. (Stubb’s BBQ, 801 Red River, Austin)

Unplugged at the Grove: Shinyribs

This week’s featured musician for KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove is Shinyribs, starting at 8pm. This is one of Austin’s longest running FREE concert series. Whip In Music Series: Mayeux & Broussard with Lord Buffalo

The first fall show in the Whip In Music Series brings us Mayeux and Broussard with Lord Buffalo, on the venue’s newly expanded outdoor stage and upgraded sound system. Whip In is excited to have M&B back; they used to play the Whip In when they were starting out and their return after success is fantastic for everyone! Mayeux (pronounced “MY-YOU”) and Broussard is a Country/Blues/Americana act from Austin, Texas.  The FREE show starts at 9:15pm and lasts until midnight. (Whip In, 1950 South IH 35, Austin)

Black Heart Saints Official Music Video Release Party at Tellers

Join Tellers from 8pm to 2am for a night of music videos, drinks, and revelry as Black Heart Saints celebrates the release of their newest music video/single “Gasoline.” The party is FREE and will feature a rotating playlist showcasing music videos from friends. (Tellers, 607 Trinity Street, Austin)

Living Spring and Splash! Community Gathering, Sing-along, and Film screening

Bring your picnics and set up your blankets! Come put a wish on the mural! This FREE evening of nature fun will kick off at 6:00pm with a fun and informative gathering of community groups committed to the on-going protection of Barton Springs, Creek and the Edwards Aquifer. Learn what is being done to protect the Springs and how YOU can get involved. Community members will be joined by the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department, The Save Barton Creek Association, the Save Our Springs Alliance, the Friends of Barton Springs Pool, the Barton Springs Conservancy and others. At 7:15, “Mr Habitat,” a.k.a Bill Oliver will he will teach guests the Barton Springs anthem, Barton Springs Eternal. The screening will begin at the Zilker Hillside Theater at dark—approximately 7:35pm. 36th Annual Pecan Street Festival

The Pecan Street Festival is back and will kick off on Saturday 11am – 10pm and Sunday 11am – 8pm. The festival features over 300 artisan vendors, 25 food concessions, 40+ bands on 3 stages, a petting zoo, kids area, sponsor activations, and so much more! Official Afterparty of the 2016 Texas Craft Brewers Fest

Join the folks at Craft Pride for the Official Afterparty of the 2016 Texas Craft Brewers Fest as they tap special releases from over 20 Texas Craft Breweries! The special tappings and live music begin at 3pm. No tickets for the festival? No worries! The after party is FREE and open to the public! 7th Annual Puppy Mill Awareness Day at Scholz Garden

Puppy Mill Awareness Day will begin with a training demonstration followed by a “Blessing of the Animals” by Cedar Park Police and Austin Police Chaplain Rabbi Marie Betcher. The FREE event, from 10am to 2pm, will continue with live music from Russell Mayes, several giveaways, and a raffle for a brand new Cannondale bike from Nelo’s Cycles and a Yeti Tank donated by Phydeaux and Friends.  Additionally, the awareness event will feature more than 30 animal rescue organizations with dogs available for adoption. On-site rescue groups will include Don’t Bully Me Rescue, Wimberley adoption Group, Best Friends, Austin German Shepherd Rescue, and many others. It will also feature an obedience demonstration from Texas Differently-Abled Dogs (TDAWG), which provides training and obedience classes for deaf and blind dogs. Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome.(Scholz Garden, 1607 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin)
