Gutbusters at Hops and Grain

Need a good laugh? Gutbusters is back at Hops and Grain this week. While the beer isn’t free, the laughs are! This week’s featured comics include Kath Barbadoro (ATX Uncensored(ish)), Abby Rosenquist (Just For Laughs), Michael Foulk (Greetings from Queer Mountain), Elizabeth Spears (FPIA Finalist), Justin Hicks (FPIA Semifinalist), and Danny Goodwin (FPIA Semifinalist). Shakespeare’s Macbeth: Modern Military meets Witchcraft

Now in its 32nd year of FREE Shakespeare in Zilker Park, Austin Shakespeare brings a professional production of a modern, military Macbeth facing unusual witches and sword fights in camouflage. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics on any Thursday through Sunday at 8pm, for the entire month of May, for the production co-sponsored by the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Unplugged at the Grove: Jai Malano

This week’s featured musician for KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove is Jai Malano, starting at 8pm. This is one of Austin’s longest running FREE concert series. HE^RD X Hypersonic Radio presents: Marcus Marr + Terminal DJs

A night of dancing with Marcus Marr and Terminal DJs. The show starts at 10pm and is FREE if you RSVP here. KLBJ’s Sunset Concert Series at the Oasis

A special FREE Austin Sketch Fest edition of the show will feature special guest co-host Martha Kelly, acts from the festival, and (oh, you know it) surprises. Martha Kelly is an Austin-based comedian who plays “Martha Brooks” on the FX show Baskets. She has also performed stand-up on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Comedy Central and has performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, the Chicago Comedy Festival, and the Latino Laugh Festival. Saturday Night Concert Series featuring High Plains Jamboree

Austin Piano Festival Opening Gala Celebration

Imagine a fun filled evening of both serious and casual music making with some of the best musicians in the Austin area! This a family-friendly festival along the north shores of Lake Travis in the beautiful Bar K Park of Lago Vista.  There will be food, drinks, shopping, water activities and live music featuring the Eggmen, Drew Womack, and Hector Ward & The Big Time. Bear’s Memorial Day Weekend Bash

Put your dancin’ boots on and head on over to Giddy Ups for another country and honky-tonk show starting at 3pm. It’s Memorial Day weekend, so no excuse for not heading out! Country music sweetheart Heather Victorino kicks things off from 3-4:30pm with her powerful voice and classic hits. Then, from 5-7pm, Doug Strahan & The Good Neighbors will lay down some funky-tonk for you to cut a rug and shake your shimmy. Laugh, Dammit! at The Highball

Laugh, Dammit! is a FREE stand-up comedy showcase at The Highball featuring stand-up comedians from Austin and beyond. Sunday’s show will feature the very funny Eric Krug. In 2008 he won the prestigious Funniest Person In Austin competition.
