Fingerpistol at The Highball

Fingerpistol is a three-time Austin Music Award winning country dance band from Austin, combining tried and true country classics with crowd pleasing originals penned by Fingerpistol front man Dan Hardick. Fingerpistol won’t set their instruments on fire, play guitar behind their backs, or do flying, acrobatic dives into teeming mosh pits, but they will play some fun music, sing some nice harmonies, and keep your toes tapping. The FREE show starts at 8:00 p.m. The Highball, 1120 S Lamar Blvd, Austin.

Unplugged at The Grove: Ray Wylie Hubbard

Presented by 93.3 KGSR, enjoy FREE live music for 24 consecutive weeks at the iconic Shady Grove for one of Austin’s longest running FREE concert series. There’s still no cover charge for the best music, food, and fun you’ll experience under the clear, warm skies of Austin. This week’s much-loved Unplugged at The Grove will feature Ray Wylie Hubbard at 8:00 p.m. Parking is available at the Bicycle Sports Shop right down the street at 517 S Lamar Blvd. Shady Grove, 1624 Barton Springs Rd, Austin.

Re-Animator Screening at The North Door

Blood Bath Theater is presenting a brand new restored version of the classic, splatter horror comedy, Re-Animator (1985). The print is a 4k restoration and un-cut version offered by Arrow Video. If you witnessed the restored version of Hellraiser at July’s screening, you know it was amazing and there’s no doubt that Re-Animator will come back to life in all it’s gory glory. The screening is FREE and is presented on the huge 25-foot screen at The North Door in a dark and quiet movie watching environment. There will also be giveaways! Doors open at 8:00 p.m., pre-show starts at 9:00 p.m., and the movie starts at 9:30 p.m. The North Door, 502 Brushy St, Austin.

DJ Al Lover

In short, Al Lover is a producer from San Francisco, but there’s more layers to his wall of sound then meets the ear. Over the last few years he has gained much notoriety for his melding of contemporary and past garage and psychedelic rock into harsh yet spacey abrasive beats. Influenced as much by The 13th Floor Elevators as DJ Shadow, Al combines crunchy drums, shaky percussion, chopped samples, and layers of textured effects to create an unexplored path for psychedelic music, offering an earthy and loose approach that sounds more like you’re listening to a DMT fueled psych band than a beat made on an MPC. The FREE set starts at 10:00 p.m. Firehouse Lounge, 605 Brazos St, Austin.
