Bring your family, a picnic dinner and a blanket or chairs to the Bullock Texas State History Museum’s Lone Star Plaza every Sunday in May to enjoy free concerts presented by the Austin Federation of Musicians (AFM). All concerts are free, family-friendly and begin at 6 p.m. at the museum, located at the corner of MLK, Jr. Boulevard and North Congress Avenue.

AFM’s Planet K Free Concert Series kicks off May 4, 2014 with The Blues Crawlers and Native Sun. Visitors may come early on May 4 for the Bullock Museum’s Free First Sunday, featuring free exhibit admission and family activities between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. The AFM concerts continue May 11 with the Staehely Brothers Band and Casual Interference. On Sunday, May 18, listen to the sounds of Jumpstart and Eve & the Exiles. Then, capping off the free series May 25 will be the Floyd Domino Band with special guest Red Volkaert, followed by the Howard Kalish Experience.

The American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada is the largest organization in the world representing the interests of professional musicians. The AFM seeks to raise industry standards by negotiating fair agreements, protecting ownership of recorded music, securing benefits such as health care and pension, lobbying legislators and more.
