Top Free Austin Events Happening This Week: July 11 through July 15, 2022

It is HOT in Austin this week, but we know plenty of ways to beat the heat. From indoor activities to late night fun, here are this week’s top FREE events happening around Austin.

This list contains a mix of family-friendly and adult focused Austin events.

Outdoor Music and Movement Storytime
Monday, July 11th | From 9:30 to 10 a.m. | Windsor Park Branch, 5833 Westminster Drive

Bring your favorite little one to stretch, sing, dance & explore music with rhythm instruments! This program focuses on the Sing and Play recommendations for early literacy which helps develops gross motor skills, listening skills, and social skills, while introducing new vocabulary.

Lego Lab
Monday, July 11th | From 2 to 4 p.m. | Yarborough Branch, 2200 Hancock Drive

With Legos, you can build anything you can imagine and tell any story you can dream up. Come to the Lego Lab to hear, see, make, and create different stories, all while building with Legos provided by the Library!

Grounded Fitness
Tuesday, July 12th | From 7 to 9 p.m. | Fareground Austin, 111 Congress Avenue

Get GROUNDED at downtown’s Fareground every Tuesday evening with fitness programming powered by Swift Fit Events. Every week we’ll host high-intensity workouts in our outdoor plaza space just off of Congress and Cesar Chavez.

Movies in Your Park: TEEN NIGHT
Tuesday, July 12th | From 8 to 11 p.m. | San Marcos Plaza Park, 210 N C M Allen Parkway, San Marcos

TEEN NIGHT will feature a FREE screening of Jurassic World! The movie will be shown in San Marcos Plaza Park and will begin at approximately 8:45 PM. There will be pre movie activities, so come get set up and comfortable starting at 8:00! Kona Ice will be serving snow cones, and some movie dates will include additional snack options for purchase. All movies are family friendly!

Wild Wednesdays
Wednesday, July 13th | From 10 to 12 p.m. | Waterloo Greenway, 111 Red River Street

Take part in a variety of science, nature, and STEM programs designed to connect kids (ages 5-14) to the natural world through hands-on nature exploration and learning through problem-solving, outdoor play, and journal exercises.

Teen Videogaming Freeplay
Wednesday, July 13th | From 12 to 2 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 West Cesar Chavez

Teens 13-18 – come play!  Enjoy snacks and play titles from the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch! And don’t forget our Alienware gaming computers, always available and pre-loaded with games.

The Conscious Pet Launch Party
Thursday, July 14th | From 6 to 9 p.m. | Central Machine Works, 4824 East Cesar Chavez

Join The Conscious Pet for a celebration of all the best things in life – dogs, beer, music, dogs, hot dogs, and dogs. We’ll have plenty of ways for people and dogs to cool down while celebrating the new launch!

The Drop-In: Geto Gala with San Gabriel
Thursday, July 14th | From 8 to 11:30 p.m. | Hartman Concert Lawn, 701 West Riverside Drive

We’ll provide the tunes, the drinks, and the view. You bring the energy, and we’ll vibe all summer long on the Hartman Concert Lawn. This Thursday enjoy Geta Gala with San Gabriel!

Ocean-Themed Crafts
Friday, July 15th | From 2 to 5 p.m. | Lena Armstrong Public Library, 301 East First Avenue, Belton

Learn how to make ocean necklaces this week! The library will provide guided help from 2-5 p.m. if needed.

Summer Concert Series in Marble Falls
Friday, July 15th | From 6 to 9 p.m. | Johnson Park Ampitheater, 230 Avenue J, Marble Falls
