Top Free Austin Events Happening This Weekend: April 29 through May 1, 2022

As we say goodbye to April and welcome May, there are FREE events happening all over Central Texas to enjoy! From outdoor concert series to plenty of FREE festivals, here are this weekend’s top FREE events.

Teen Musician Jam Sessions
Friday, April 29 | From 3 to 5 p.m. | Austin Central Library 710 West Cesar Chavez Street

Teens 13-18 are invited to use our guitars (electric, acoustic, and bass) and keyboard (or bring your own instruments) and play. Bring a friend, or your band – jam sessions are more fun with more people.

Live Music: Central Lawn Plaza
Friday, April 29 | From 5 to 7 p.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 1200 Hill Country Boulevard

Bring your family, friends, and a blanket to lounge on the lawn at the Hill Country Galleria. Friday, April 29th, enjoy music from artist Brandon Alan. 

Sprint Concert Series: Local Love at the Grove

Bird Walk with Nearby Naturalists
Saturday, April 30 | From 10 to 10:30 a.m. | Hampton Branch Library, 5125 Convict Hill Road

Walk with Matthew Garland to the Learning Tree, while learning about the birds we observe along the way. Part of how we are saying “Happy 25th Birthday” to the Hampton Branch.

May Day Arts Celebration

Spring is in the air! Come celebrate the Arts with us! We’re planning our largest event ever – but, hey, this is Texas, y’all. Go big or home!

Books and Bees Festival

Come out for Bee Cave’s first literary festival! The Books and Bees Festival will include bestselling authors, arts and crafts, and so much more.

Lago Fest

It’s boats, beats, arts, and eats in the chillest of atmospheres! Green grass, blue water, and family friendly on the shore of Lake Travis. As we say, come by boat or come by land. It’s FREE and for all ages!

Join us in the Lebermann Plaza for an eclectic mix of mindful movement — from Qi Gong, Yoga & Meditation, and Sound Healing, Self-Care Sunday is all about starting the day grounded and with intention.

Community Night at Thinkery
