Everything You Need to Know Before You Visit The New and Improved Pease Park

Have you checked out the new and improved Pease Park yet? You enter the 84-acre park through a gate that leads you to Kingsbury Commons, the most important entry and activity space in the park. To create a “postcard” entry, Pease Park was carved into a limestone entry wall framed by two large live oaks. But that’s not the only improvement to the park. There’s a new picnic space, larger play area, splash pad, and observatory treehouse.

Here’s everything else you need to know before you plan your visit to Pease Park!

Splash Pad: An interactive water feature the whole family can enjoy! Splish, splash, and cool off at the splash pad all summer long.  Plenty of shade and seating surround the pad, allowing parents and kids a great opportunity to cool off while at the park.

Playground: Swings, cargo nets, and more allow the imagination to grow at this wooden playground! The playground is located right in between the Splash Pad and Picnic Area, creating a safe and enjoyable space for the kids.

Observatory Treehouse: An observation deck gone treehouse style! Discover the beauty of the Kingsbury Commons, and the natural scenery from treetop level in this observation pod.  Enjoy some shade and seating in the ground level of the pod, or for the adventurous soul, take the stairs to the second level where you walk across netting to get a closer view of the downtown skyline and local hillside.  Please note that all children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Trail: The entire park is part of Austin’s trail system! Ride your bike, run, or walk here from North or South Austin!

Dog Friendly: Pease Park is dog friendly, but asks that they stay on their leashes.  If you are looking for an off-leash area, the designated spot in Pease Park is between 24th and 29th Street, where they can roam free!

Events: Weekly yoga events, volunteer events, and Summer Storytime at the Amphitheater.  For upcoming event details, click here.
