With so much live music in Austin to see every weekend, we know it’s difficult to pick which bands to watch. To make it easier, we’ve picked 10 shows to see this weekend. Featuring both local and national bands, we’ve rounded up some of the most diverse groups Austin has to offer this weekend. Read on to see our picks!

 Thursday, July 6

Rare Bloom

Good pop punk bands are on the rise in Austin and luckily for local fans of the genre, Rare Bloom is part of that niche. They’re performing at Austin’s newest venue, Come and Take It (which recently transitioned from their old name Grizzly Hall), alongside bands After Aristotle, Moth Wings, and others. Rare Bloom knows how to add a bite to their music while keeping with the lighter aspects of pop punk.

Brandon Padier

Hailing from the neighboring city of San Antonio, singer-songwriter Brandon Padier is coming to Austin this weekend to perform his folk inspired tunes, guaranteed to get your weekend feeling good. Padier released his EP, Growing Up, last year, where he tells great stories. He also puts on a decent live show. Performing with Ayuma and Sioux and Fox, the Empire Control Room and Garage is a great place to be this evening.

Growing Up (EP) by Brandon Padier

Diana Ross

Best known for her time in The Supremes, Diana Ross is coming to ACL Live for the continuation of her current tour In the Name of Love to perform old hits and new favorites. She’s bringing longtime fans of The Supremes back in time for an amazing show that spans her 40-year career.

Shane Smith and the Saints

Known as one of Austin’s best live bands, Shane Smith and the Saints will be taking part in Shady Grove’s weekly concert series. They’ll be performing hits from all their records including their latest release Geronimo, out in 2015, making Smith and his band one not one to miss.

Friday, July 7

Locket 

Local rock act Locket will be performing a farewell show at The Mohawk this weekend to say goodbye to longtime fans. Fans do not want to miss this performance.

Volumes

The East Coast hardcore band Volumes is performing this Friday at Come and Take It Live, and they’re guaranteed to get your weekend rocking. With a few days off from the holiday weekend, you’ll want to get your Friday off on the right foot and add as much punch to it as possible. With tracks such as “Wave Control,” you’ll become glued to the group’s music right away.

Lazy Lester

Born in Louisiana, legendary blues musician Lazy Lester will be performing this weekend at Antone’s as part of their continuing 42nd birthday celebration. With a career spanning nearly 50 years, Lazy Lester is a music legend that everyone should see.

Saturday, July 8

The Color Morale

The Color Morale is becoming known as one of hardcore’s rising acts, and they’re bringing their live show to Austin to promote their latest album, Desolate Divine, in one of Austin’s best new clubs. With attention in magazines such as Alternative Press, The Color Morale is a band you must see.

Blac Youngsta

While Blac Youngsta is not a local emcee, the Austin hip hop scene will welcome this talented rapper for his honest and real lyrics while spitting out rhymes that are catchy and memorable. Blac Youngsta uses music to speak openly and honestly about his life and childhood, making him a rapper that the rap genre needs right now.

Sunday, July 9

Austin Symphony

For more highbrow music fans, the Austin Symphony will be putting on a performance this Sunday evening at the park right in front of The Long Center. They’re known for picking a new theme for each performance they put on, making the symphony a cultural activity that everyone should go to.

Coming Up:

Hanson (September 13)

If you were old enough to remember when Hanson’s smash hit “MMMBop” dominated the radio back in 1997, you may wonder what the sibling trio are up to these days. The group has continued to release music and is currently celebrating 25 years as a band with their Middle of Everywhere tour which will make its way to the US later this year. If you missed Hanson’s many appearances at SXSW in March, the trio will be coming to Emo’s in September for a full set. If hearing “MMMbop” live is on your bucket list, now is the time to get tickets.
