We’re Still Here: Johnny Cash’s Bitter Tears Revisited
November 3, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
(USA, 60 min)
Writer/Director: Antonino D’Ambrosio (in attendance)
Based on the acclaimed book A Heart and a Guitar: Johnny Cash and the Making of Bitter Tears, We’re Still Here revisits the making of the 1964 Johnny Cash album Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian, which advocated for Native American rights and never found its footing in mainstream music. The film includes performances and interviews from Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Rosanne Cash, and more, and chronicles the efforts of these musicians to bring Cash’s album back to life for a new generation.
