Third Thursday at the Blanton

October 18 @ 10:00 am - 9:00 pm - Free

Enjoy a FREE day-to-night out during Third Thursday at the Blanton, exploring our absolute must-see new exhibition “Making Africa: A Continent of Contemporary Design” that showcases the dynamic art and design of over 120 artists. Learn more here → blantonmuseum.org/makingafrica.

We have a full program of events to keep you occupied during the event, including the Community Conversations Series, Beat the Rush featuring Riders Against the Storm, and the Pop-Up Exhibition: Wonder Women in Art.

12:30pm-1:30pm ~ COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS

Join us for a series of “Community Conversations,” designed to invite consideration of Vincent Valdez’s “The City” through close looking, understanding of the artist’s process and intentions, and wide-ranging conversation about racism in our society.

5:30pm ~ BEAT THE RUSH: Riders Against the Storm

Austin based hip hop duo RIDERS AGAINST the STORM (RAS) will blend visceral discussion about the intersections of indigenous and contemporary worlds with an energetic musical performance. This performance will take place in our atrium.

5:30pm-8:30pm ~ POP-UP EXHIBITION: Wonder Women in Art

Explore some of the powerful roles women play, focusing on Change Agent, Symbol, Mother, and Supernatural Force showcased through artworks at this special pop-up exhibition in our Prints & Drawings room.

Museum admission is always free on Thursdays.

The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
