Thinkery21: Transformations

August 25, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Grab your tickets today! bit.ly/Thinkery21

Grown-ups can enjoy an evening at Thinkery on their own. At Thinkery21, we close the museum to kids and let adults, ages 21 and up, eat, drink and mingle while experiencing innovative science and art.

From large scale shifts to microscopic mutations, transformation can be sudden, slow, superficial or incredibly profound. (And sometimes, all of the above.) Take a look at change as a whole and explore transformations on a personal level and in the world around us. Come with an open mind, and don’t be afraid to transform the way you look at the world.

Cheesy Changes – A few months of mold growth can change a cheese from chalky and mild to gooey and wild. Taste the difference with Antonelli’s Cheese Shop.

Gender Transcender – Queen and King artists of the Austin International Drag Festival delight with transformative drag performances.

Bunny Boutique – Rose & Grace Mini Farm invites you to transform bunnies into beauties by combing their hair and putting little hats on them!

That Was Then. This is Now. – From the high to the lows, the triumphant to the embarrassing, the talented storytellers of Greetings, From Queer Mountain reveal true tales of life changing events.

Masterpiece Remix – Ever thought the Mona Lisa could be even better? Join Thisisartmeat in making your own improvements and additions to famous works of art.

Transform Your Footprint – Learn why some scientists say we’re in a new era, called the Anthropocene, and explore how we can combat the impacts of our growing human population with the Center for Biological Diversity/Choose Wild.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow – L7 Salon stylists do dramatic changes on willing volunteers. Plus, learn to turn long hair into a bob without scissors.
