Silent Navajo – Vortex Second Saturday Reading Series
September 10, 2016 @ 8:00 pm
Join us for an open reading of Silent Navajo, a new work by playwright and VORTEX’s own Nathan Porteshawver, inspired by his grandmother and deaf educator, Ann Fickenger. This reading is FREE, and provides a valuable opportunity for future development of the new work. Stick around afterward to give feedback and enjoy a drink at The Butterfly Bar.
Silent Navajo is a multigenerational tale about a Navajo woman who loses her hearing and embarks on a spiritual journey to get it back. As a person of navajo and jewish decent, Nathan uses this play to explore collective healing from historical trauma.
