Roland & The Roots Riddim band was born March 19th, 2013 in Austin, Texas. On that day, a group of talented musicians, all lovers of Reggae music, played music together for the first time. From the first note they shared, the musical chemistry was obvious to every band member.

“We know we have something special,” comments the leader of the band, Roland Kemokai. “And we are a band of leaders, a band of equals, and we are all nurturing this effort as our baby”. Kemokai himself brings the influence of his own unique life story and mixture of talents to the Roots Riddim. In addition to being a high energy front-man, a powerful singer, a multi-instrumentalist and a songwriter, he is also a published author, certified life coach and an in-demand speaker. Born into a tribal village in Liberia, Roland was discarded on a dump-pile as a baby. He struggled through poverty, abuses, and a violent civil war utilizing remarkable gifts of strength and perseverance.

Though very early in its musical journey, Roland & The Roots Riddim is establishing itself in the Austin music scene as an entertaining, danceable, authentic roots reggae band with the potential to grow into a regional and national act.
